Atlanta Falcons Admit to Pumping in Fake Crowd Noise; Face Fine and Loss of Draft Pick

ESPN:

ESPN said:
Falcons owner Arthur Blank said Tuesday he has seen enough of the NFL's investigation of fake crowd noise at Atlanta's home games to acknowledge wrongdoing.

The NFL is trying to determine if the Falcons pumped artificial crowd noise into the Georgia Dome for home games the past two years. Apparently, the answer is yes.

ESPN said:
The Falcons face a fine and possibly the loss of a draft pick over the matter.

Blank on fake noise: 'What we've done...was wrong' : Fantasy News

Falcons owner Arthur Blank admitted the team pumped fake crowd noise into the Georgia Dome the past two years while their opponents were on offense, reports the Associated Press.

Asked if there was a fine line for crowd noise allowed by the NFL, Blank replied: "It's not really a fine line. I think what we've done in 2013 and 2014 was wrong. Anything that affects the competitive balance and fairness on the field, we're opposed to, as a league, as a club, and as an owner. It's obviously embarrassing but beyond embarrassing it doesn't represent our culture and what we're about."

Blank said he got some information "internally" but can't be fully clear on what happened until he sees the NFL's report. Those findings should be released in 2-3 weeks, Blank said.

The Falcons could be fined or lose a draft pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Atlanta hasn't been a dominant home team since 2012. In the period covered by the investigation, the Falcons went 6-9 at the Georgia Dome.

Well, it obviously didn't help them much. They got blown out by 31 in what was essentially a playoff game week 17.

I have a very hard time believing that Arthur Blank was unaware of this. This isn't some clandestine operation in the trainer's room.

Sounds he was fine with cheating and is fine with blaming the dead guys, aka the former regime.

The Falcons should face some sort of punishment mid to late round draft pick sounds about right.

True. However, if this were the Patriots this would be a whole other issue.

Yeah, because the Pats had a great season. If Atlanta just won the Super Bowl I think it would be a pretty big deal.

Not as big as if it had "New England" associated with it, regardless of a Super Bowl win or not

Yeah, because Atlanta was not caught in a prior cheating scandal.

Repeat offenders are treated differently.

New England is perennially very good. The Falcons have one Super Bowl defeat under their belt, 17 years ago. Not exactly apples to apples.

correct....convicted folks have a harder road when questions arise. Nothing to do with being the current SB champs
