Marvel just announced at D23 Expo that Black Panther 2, the sequel to Black Panther, will be released on Friday, May 6, 2022 (update: delayed to Friday, July 8, 2022 Friday, November 11, 2022) (following Thor 4 and preceding Captain Marvel 2 The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special)! Ryan Coogler is returning as director.

I know he kept it from the other actors, but he HAD to let the studio know, right? Ethically, at least. And everything I have heard about him says he was a stand up guy. I doubt he would have left them in a bad situation like that.

Agreed. I figured that they probably had a couple of different scripts for the movie in case something like that happened.

Disney announced today that the film will be delayed to Friday, July 8, 2022, and that they will not be recasting Chadwick Boseman following his death:

Black Panther 2, opening July 8, 2022, is being written & directed by Ryan Coogler. Honoring Chadwick Boseman’s legacy & portrayal of T’Challa, @MarvelStudios will not recast the character, but will explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film.
