"We are the best job in town!" followed by numerous "No thanks guys." replies.

How different would this whole process have gone if we had cleaned house and started from scratch? Very different, I think.

Yesterday everyone was complaining about this guy. We don't get him and now that's bad?

It's never good to see coaches turning us down, no matter who they are. I want(ed) the QB coach from Indy (I guess).

Forget about whether he was the right choice. It's bad because our new head coach's first choice turned him down. That's a troubling scene.

I agree with that but I'd prefer a more proven OC anyways. Either way it would seem he is just trying to hire a yes man so he can run the offense himself.

I didnt want him, BUT its still a bad thing....first choice says no thanks AGAIN.....goes to a team with less offensive talent....sooooooo, whos the 2nd choice? Where management will come out and say......"he was my first choice the whole time"

I'm starting to think this is a blessing in disguise. For years the Lions have been inept at hiring the right people to run the team.

Now their 1st choice as the head coach leaves them at the altar and they have to resort to their "backup plan".

Now the guy who was supposed to be the Offensive Coordinator says thanks, but no thanks and they have to resort to their "backup plan".

I think the best thing that could happen to this team is Teryl Austin says thanks, but no thanks and signs on to be the defensive coordinator somewhere else.

That way we could hit the trifecta of backup plan coaches, thus sending the fans in an uproar and in the end, they will probably be the best coaches the Lions have had in decades, because it wasn't who the front office wanted in the first place.
