1. THE PISTONS added one of the leagues better periphery shooters and defenders in their roster on TONY SNELL and won the 30th pick, which they traded for two additional picks of the second round adding important pieces on their rotation... MOST IMPORTANT, the Pistons have drafted SECOU DUMBOUYA with the 15th pick, an 18 years old kid that is expected to make history in the NBA...

Under coach Casey, who is extremely capable in developing young and raw talents fast (like he did with O.G.Anunoby in Toronto) and because Snell's game matches the system that Casey applies on the floor, the Pistons are expected to be a very dangerous playoff team next year which can seriously challenge for 2nd round promotion any competitor.

2. THE PELICANS have gotten rid of Solomon Hill's contract thus creating space for another trade to follow in the up coming free agency and additionally, ended up selling the 4th pick they had for the 8th and the 17th pick which enabled them to end up with a full roster of young talents sourrounding Zion Williamson who they selected with the 1st pick... With the addition of L. Ball, J. Hurt and B. Ingram and the extra 2020 1st pick they also won when trading the 4th pick, they are clearly the NBA's fastest rising threat...

Pelicans are clear winners.

But you really do go out of your way to get ridiculed don't you?

The Pistons did well. Snell is not the reason.

Snell is among the reasons and it's you that will be ridiculed on this... No team is crazy to pay 14.5M only to buy two 2nd round picks in THIS draft...

the celtics?
Nah.

I'm ok with our draft... but we shouldn't be on any short list of Winners.

One advantage that the C's tend to have in post-draft analysis is that we always seem to have a high quantity of picks in recent history. So just in term of number of dudes drafted, we have a leg up on the competition.

But quantity doesn't necessarily equal success.

You are still completely missing the point on Snell.

He is a solid NBA rotational player. He will surely play more for the Pistons than he did for the Bucks. And he is Defintely better than Leuer.

But he is still a bad contract and that is why the Bucks had to give a pick to move him.

Just like no team wants Chris Paul right now. Chris Paul is still a very good player who would start for almost every NBA team. But his production is not worth his contract so the Rockets can't give him away. CP3 has negative trade value.

Just like Tony Snell.

Portland picked up a legit lottery player at #25. Sounds like a good draft to me.

Snell is a low cost, excellent body 40% 3pt career shooter who plays very good defense... IMO, he will be a starter and above 25mins in the rotation this season under Casey... Of course, as I've many times told you, you are entited to a different opinion... you are not going to convince me though, no matter how much you insist, nor you will others that have objected the opinion of yours on the same... Therefore your opinion is recorded and time will tell soon enough... No reason to insist on it, by repeating the same all the time.

Many teams have drafted well... The topic here is the winners out of all the process that has been related with the draft night and surely the Blazers can't be compared with the Pistons or the Pelicans on this.

He could be all of that.

And yet still:

A player who will be 28 at the start of next season with a career scoring average of 6 PPG is not worth $23 million over the next 2 years.

Please answer this question:

If Snell was actually a trade asset,

Then why did the Bucks give away pick 30 to tack back an inferior player?

There is only 1 reason. To get his salary off books because he is a bad contract. If he were a good contract they could have moved him and received a pick back. That didn't happen.

@buckalis

What you don't get is that Snell's production next season cannot make you right about the point we have been debating with you since your first post here:

Snell's trade value for the Bucks.

That is proven. And you were wrong.

IMO, the Bucks did wrong not trading Snell before the trade deadline last Feb.

The Bucks had 6(!!!) 3&D that could play at both 2 & 3 last season (on Middleton, Brogdon, Snell, Brown, Connaughton and DiVincenzo) and Brogdon with Middleton (also 40% shooters) were starters... The Bucks had four games with Snell starting (all wins) where he replaced either Middleton or Brogdon.

His per 36 numbers speak for himself...

The thing is that Snell is coming from bench while being an 8 figure (in salary) player and coach Bud has to look for the team's future with all Brown, Conn and DDV coming a lot cheaper and needing fast development.

Then, after the all star game Snell had a bad injury that caused him missing 6 weeks and the coaches decided not to use him in the playoffs...

That's all... there is no place for Snell in the Bucks roster, but he is valuable for other rosters, his effectiveness on his per 36 is remarkable and that is a statistic no one can deny.
