Lots of good candidates.

Vogey
Duffy
Panik
Aoki
Crawford
Pagan
Timmy

I guess I would go with Duffy. Timmy's right there, too.

Panik is doing great, but he does not belong on this list. Outside of him, all of the above.

(Paniks omission is a comment on the others, not on him, he would easily be on this list on most other teams)

Why wouldn't Panik be on that list? I think anyone whose last name was not Panik would say he is performing above expectations.

Meant to include Heston on that list. He might even top it.

Again. I am not speaking down on Panik. He is doing great.

But Timmeh, Vogey and Heston are essentially saving the season and Aoki, Duffy, Belt, and Craw are all either doing the top-end of expectations or FINALLY hitting expectations. Panik, for me, is doing about what I expected from him last season.

This is NOT a bad thing. I am a HUGE Panik-fan. I am just not that surprised.

Don't count out Hunter Strickland by the end of the year. He might put them in the WS again when the chips are down late in the year.

But he hasn't shown it at the Big-League level yet. I have high expectations for him, though (and the other bully arms in Sacto and Richmond, for that matter). If KCya weren't putting up all-star numbers this year, I would say he would be the closer by the end of the season.

He looked damn good in MIL on this last trip. He is going to push in that bullpen. Good to have him if someone happens to get hurt. I am a little worried about Affeldt this year. I hope he gets it back. Big out last night.

Affeldt and Strickland are not comparable, though. Okert is the Affeldt-replacement. Strickland is the KCya/Romo/Kontos alternate.

I never expected Aoki to come out of the gate like he has. A great add by Sabes.

Crawford is the biggest surprise so far. We all know how well his defense is, but him and Belt needed to take that next step offensively if we were going to contend. I was hoping he'd hit .260 with a little more pop, but he's clearly exceeded that and I have a feeling he'll be able to keep it up.

Craw has shown this bat in the past. He has just gotten nagging injuries in the past that has caused him to plummet. This year, with the depth we have, He has been able to take a day every week or so which should keep him fresh into the later parts of the season. Add that to his own maturity, and you have a persistent all-star on your hands.

Craw is not a surpise at all to me. Wrote about big years for him and Belt before season started.

You mean "Broken Timmah"? The one with the 2.56 ERA?

My vote for biggest surprise has to be Moses. He's been a G-dsend. :D

well, since you asked -- no. I was thinking more of the BT who has the 4.02 FIP and the $18MM contract.
