As for what the Big12 will look for in new programs, they stated it yesterday (of course, as with everything they say, it can change on a dime):

fanbase, academic standing, TV following.

Yeah, it's uh...it's a big commuter school

I've been on the campus, to the first game in their new stadium against Texas.

It did remind of Houston, but with more students.

Not to say they cant be an athletic power, because surely they can. It's just a different kind of school than the other universities in the conference.

Now, that's good to know. Looks like Boren changed his criteria...or it was changed for him. Only suspect I see that meets all three criteria is BYU.

well, the coaches dont get to vote. Saw Stoops and CS on ESPN today, and neither one acted like they really care one way or the other.

Yeah, they don't have to share with coat tail hangers. Only problem is they won't qualify for the playoffs because they don't have any Kansas, Oregon State, Pudues, etc to play and they will probably all have 3-4 losses!

The 3-4 losses would piss off the fans so much that they would then want to rejoin conferences as the heavyweights.

They complain the conference is too Texas-centric already - adding more teams from Texas adds NOTHING of value to the conference.

Pretty much all money made in this conference is made in Texas, which is the PROBLEM. Expansion NEEDS to come from new markets, not overly saturated current markets.

That's in essence the same thing.

UT is the flagship university of the state. OF COURSE the other schools will take some direction from them. The B12 has TOO MANY teams from Texas.......we gain nothing collectively by continuing to add Texas teams. It's just pointless. If you believe UT has too much power......then stop adding teams that will likely vote their way! Stop generating ALL the money in conference in one state.
