In a move that should surprise nobody, Marcus Newby commits to Nebraska. Good get, really liked him, but once Issah and Bradshaw committed, I knew that ship had sailed.

This is the biggest get of the cycle for us. DT has been the biggest weakness for this team over the last two years, and Latham is a freak athlete who could come in and start by year two. He has a ton of speed for a guy that is nearly 300 pounds, jumps well enough to be a high school basketball force, and has great power. The only thing he is missing is consistency in technique, and that is something he can definitely learn here.

This basically marks the end of the cycle for us. Defensive End Alec James is supposedly a heavy Wisconsin lead, and we aren't going to miss a chance to sign him. That brings us up to 12, despite the fact that we only have nine scholarships to give. If we get any more, we will be approaching Nick Saban territory.

Thanks JMil, I've been slacking off. This one surprised me a little bit, but Eddie Faulkner is a good recruiter and he has a great product to pitch. I think these guys look like a great class.

Yea, I'm genuinely a little confused what our story is here. I'm going to do a little reading to see what the deal is. Usually the Badgers don't do this unless they know they're going to lose somebody. Or in this case, a few somebodies. On the other hand, I believe it's early enough that they can withdraw offers... I just don't think that's really their style.

I think getting Alec James is a pretty big story, considering how many DEs are already committing to the program at his position. With all the DEs already in the system from his class, it would show how important the home team is to kids coming up in the system, because a lot of players in that position would choose to go to another school where the position isn't too deep. Little by little the Milwaukee area seems to be finding more and more talent. I think it's important for the program and even the community for this to become a Wisconsin culture. Milwaukee inner city needs to see kids getting love from their fellow Wisconsinites. The damn place is just too segregated. Let the Badgers lead the way with their "win as a family" culture. Stay home Alec! On Wisconsin!

So that's 13 commits from 9 different states so far. Gotta love boosters lending the coaches their private jets.
