Nos' doesn't like Barry. (You gotta slip the "quit" in there instead of "retire".)But Walter passed off the torch to him anyway. And Barry still holds on to it firmly to this day. Probably will for decades. Not a guy in the league that will come close to his greatest. Although McCoy is something to see.

That's not true at all, I loved watching him play when he wasn't destroying my Vikings.

I don't know buddy, there's a twinge of anti-Barry in your posts. (I lived thru the horrible summer of '99 when Barry left for Europe. My day was literally ruined when I got the news. (I still think about it every time I drive by that cucumber field.) I bought Browns gear for crying out loud! But as time wore on, I realized he simply retired when it was obvious that his health would be gone if he hung around trying to get a Lombardi. (Charlie Batch got a deal, we all knew there was no chance with behind center.)).

That's a twinge of pro Walter not anti Barry. Funny, I don't remember him retiring for health reasons...

Either that or we realize that after 10 rushes and 10 yards then pop he goes for 40 doesn't take away the 3 drive killers he had earlier in the game.

Your arguing with someone who actually watched all of his games. Maybe I was making a sandwich or something during all of those "gee if it wasn't for Barry maybe we could get something going" moments ... but I doubt it.

That's why a long-term average is a better indicator of his production is a made-up scenario of 11 rushes. 5 yards per carry. If you average 5 YPC over 3000+ rushes, you can have all the negative runs you want.

5.0 > 4.4

Barry is remembered for two things, the WOW plays and the fact he quit while on top. He never had the end of the career 600 yard 2 TD seasons like so many other backs go through, another reason IMO Jim Brown is remembered so fondly. People simply chose to not remember all the negative runs or his inability to block or that he came off the field in certain situations.

Walter was simply great at everything while Barry was not.

Great at everything? I think very good at everything would be the correct thing. Walter wasn't the greatest in any one thing, Barry was, nobody could shake and bake like Barry, his moves were jaw dropping.

Uh oh. People get pretty riled up about QBs for some reason.

...Also, there are far more 49er fans on SportsHoopla than of any other team, so I think we all know who's gonna win the poll.
