Being it was 1952 and a completely different game than it was in 1980 who knows, he did have 10 in his 3rd season so it would appear they weren't to concerned with throwing it to his side.

You're mixing arguments. Barney was DROY in 67 which was a big year for passing. Namath threw for > 4000. Hayes' rookie season was Barney's last.

I apologize, I don't see how that has anything to do with what we are talking about...

I actually like Lem Barney and would have put him on the list if someone has said he should be.

I threw Emmitt Thomas on the list when I could have just as easily put Barney on there.

I'm really not trying to convince you Lester was better than Night Train, I simply didn't like how you made it sound like it was a phucking no brainer he was when that simply isn't fact at all...

I didn't see Lane play. I've only watched him on film. But the guy was voted to both the 50th and 75th anniversary all-time teams. He had 68 picks and that was in 12 & 14 game seasons and he hit like a truck. He's widely acknowledged as an all-time great and Lester isn't. All the guys on your list were great players. I meant no disrespect to Hayes but I don't see it as much of a contest between the 2 of them.

Yesterday was crazy at work. I didn't see these. I think it's great that you're doing them. But you did ask for comments. Not everyone is going to agree.....and I'm always right so there's that. :yahoo:

Nobody got close to 4,000 again until 1979. Namath himself only went over 3,000 once more. The 70's were most definitely not a passing decade.

Sorry, I just get a little defensive when people bash my all time favorite player. I mean no offense...
