the kings have 0 leverage unless they can get a bidding war going.. a 3.3 million/year offer sheet forces them to either spend 3.3 on a backup goalie who you have to pay for at least a year (kings don't have an abundance of cap space if i'm not mistaken), or give up a nice piece for just a 2nd round pick (OS compensation).

They have to weigh their options.

If he is resigned and teams know LA is in a pickle, what do they get in return? Is the gamble worth it to potentially get something better than a 2nd rd pick compared to eating his salary.

Perhaps package his rights with another player.... take the 2nd rd, IMO... and be happy you have Quick.

I don't know who Scott Mitchell is, but apparently he's saying a solid source has told him the Flyers & Kings are talking 11th pick plus for Bernier.
