If the other team is going out of their way to stop the run, wouldn't any competent team burn the hell out of them through the air? 20 or more other teams would have blown out Pittsburgh if their defense played as good as ours did today.

Dalton threw for 278 yards with no running game. Does nothing make you happy?

Do you guys watch full games or just look at stat lines?

Dalton is a weak link on this team, and if you refuse to recognize that, you are blind

He also had 2 picks, missed plenty of wide open WRs, and didnt get the offense close to sniffing the endzone.

You're not going to blow the Steelers away with the season on the line. In the end, Roethlisberger made the bad throw to cost the game, and Dalton made the game winning throw. Dalton outplayed Roethlisberger, with the playoffs at stake. Again, good enough for me.

I still haven't processed the fact that we won the game...but there is a part of me that is happy. I just don't feel good about our playoff chances.

And that 278 yards has to be the most decieving yardage total ever. Dalton played like absolute shit the entire game. He made exactly one good pass the whole game. It just so happens that one big pass came on his final throw of the game.

The thing that has me bummed is the coaching. We aren't going to get better coaches by making the playoffs back to back. If anything we will get worse coaches if/when Zimmer goes to coach another team. I hate Marvin Lewis with a passion, and it's hard to get over that.

I'm ecstatic about our defense and I let out quite a few healthy WHO-DEYS at the end of the game...I'm just not happy about the long term forcast for this team.

Don't you think some of that was because the Steelers have a really good defense? He outplayed Roethlisberger, who we all agree is a top five quarterback. And that was with absolutely zero running game.

I'm ecstatic the Bengals won. I didn't think they had a chance in hell. That said, Dalton is terrible. There's no arguing that. He's bad. and Marvin....dear god. We deserve better.

I would say Dalton had 2 good throws all game. The final one, and the 3rd and long where he hit Hawk in stride. Other than that, everything was very pedestrian or just bad.

Again, the Steelers are bad, and while their defense isn't terrible, us not even coming close to putting it in to the end zone on offense should be very alarming, even to you Dalton fanboys.

The steelers being good on defense has nothing to do with Dalton being unable to pull the trigger and hit a wide open receiver - something he has shown on multiple occasions the last couple of weeks he is unable to do.

For fucks sake...

The team I have rooted for my entire life made the playoffs in back to back years for the first time since I was six years old.

An incredibly young team that, heaven forbid, doesn't win it all this season (we were 3-5 at one point) is trending upwards. And there are those that are poo-pooing this achievement?

We. Are. In.

Merry Xmas and try and enjoy...if you can't, too bad for you.

He didn't miss plenty of wide open WR's. Steelers D was lights out today. Looked like vintage Pitt. Dalton actually threw several good passes that weren't completed. One of his picks was on a 3rd and long. Essentially served as a punt and was an incredible play by the D.

I think if you looked at the stat line you'd say Dalton played poorly. But if you watched the game you understand that he threw the ball well against an amazing D. My criticism would be some fo the sacks he takes. But he made big throws in big situations.

Reading comprehension FAIL. I'm ecstatic...and Dalton is terrible. I'm allowed to be happy that the team won and mad that Dalton is a pathetic excuse for a QB.

I think we're all very excited to be in the playoffs again, but where can you say that the Bengals are 'trending up'??? The offense has looked like garbage ever since Sanu went down. We'll see how long we can ride on the back of our defense, but if you watch the rest of the league and see how good some of the other teams are, you'll realize thats most likely not very far.

I am not a Dalton fanboy. I have been very critical of his play. That said you Dalton detractors don't know the difference between a defensive and offensive type game. The Steelers don't allow 200 yard passers very often. Again, pay attention this time, our running game averaged about a yard per rush. It's almost impossible to win a game like that. Yet, we won. And sure, we're probably going nowhere in the playoffs. But we earned our way in, against a team we've never been able to beat with everything on the line. If you can't enjoy that, I feel sorry for you.

Respectfully disagree. The Pittsburgh defense ranks first in yardage allowed, and they went out of their way to shut down our running game. That said, our defense was up to the task, and with the game on the line our offense made a play to win the game. Good enough for me.

They're also 8th in ppg giving up 20.8 a game. Our defense gifted us 7 and then the other 6 points they gave us the ball on Pittsburgh's side of the field. That accounts for all 13 of our points.

Our offense was horrendous. There really is no way to sugar coat it.

Furthermore, the number 1 in yards allowed is more indicative of how good their offense is at holding onto the ball rather than how good their defense is. They're 2nd in TOP.

He misses wide receivers all of the time.

You need to realize that missing receivers is more than just over or under throwing. There are plenty of times he has time to make throws and is taking sacks while Gresham is wide open across the middle.
