Before you guys go get excited about us bringing in some big name

Here is the article:

Marvin Lewis opens up on Dalton, FA, coaches

Lewis painted a different picture of how the team plans on approaching the open market this year. Don't expect a run at the high-priced, high-profile free agents piling up mega-millions in guaranteed cash, but do expect a much more aggressive bunch when it comes to acquiring talent. And the push is coming from his boss.

So in other words, exactly what we thought. B rate players who had big names at one point who is on the curve heading down instead of up. We got ya Geoff.

Paul Dehner works for the enquirer, but he might as well inherit Geoff's job.

Mike Brown is pushing for free agents for them to identify that will help the team... this should be something they WERE ALREADY DOING, but they weren't, WHY? because we're not going to out-bid for anyone that another team would want. It's literally the same song and dance as the past few years (although they aren't repeating the mantra of 'we sign our own' because they obviously lied about that one last year. These fools are literally just making shit up as they go.

Oh, and Paul is wrong about keeping both Campbell and McCarron. Sure, they may keep 3 qbs on the roster, but the squeeze will get tight unless one of them goes on IR, forcing McCarron to waivers before we can legally put him on the PS, at that point he'll go bye-bye.

It might change with franchise tags, but this looks like a great year to add a veteran WR in FA. The market's going to be flooded with talented players so you might be able to add a second tier WR for a fair deal

I think if we could just add some quality veteran help along with Jones getting healthy along with Eifert, we will be okay.

Sign someone like Torrey Smith to 1) give us another deep threat, and 2) to get him the hell away from the Ravens. He is young, fast, decent hands, is an UFA. Probably wouldn't cost an arm and leg either. Maybe a few million a year?

Doesn't fit our offense. Dalton can't throw deep -- Smith would be better off continuing to play with Flacco.

We need an underneath, move the chains type guy. Like an Anquan Boldin type. Honestly, we may be better off keeping Gresham and running two TE. Assuming Eifert can actually get healthy and stay on the damn field. Dalton needs underneath targets and guys who can go over the middle and make contested catches. That's why AJ Green has frustrated as of late. He's become gun shy from getting damn near crippled trying to catch inaccurate Dalton lollipops.

I agree. We need a physical, over the middle guy. Sanu could be that player if he didn't drop so many passes.

It will be interesting to see if Marvin Jones can still play. He's had his leg operated on twice now.

Marvin Jones was on the cusp of being a decent #3 receiver.

we should really get another #1 who can be #2 one of them will generally always get hurt. Where Terrell Owen's at? ha ha

Hobson's Choice: next moves

The first of many Hobs offseason articles that will splash cold water on all of your hopes and dreams for the offseason.... A few nuggets:

1) There won't be big name free agents. Remember we need to keep 100 million in reserve for injuries and bonuses even though no other team in the NFL does this.

2) We are not cutting Domata Peko. No matter what.

3) We're saving our money for Mohammed Sanu and Dre Kirkpatrick. No shit.... He really said that.

Who-Dey!

He's out of touch then. The Bengals actually started working on getting Sanu a lesser roll on the offense down the stretch. He's more athlete than receiver, maybe they want to try him out at Safety? ha.

I stopped reading when he started lying about the salary cap business.

The Bengals do not spend to the cap. sure, they spend more than the Jaguars. Thank God we ain't the Jaguars, fine... I get it.

Rinse, repeat. Rinse, repeat. Same shit different offseason. Is this really a surprise? The whole organization is nothing but a bunch of crooks, liars, swindlers and propaganda peddlers. Saving money for Sanu?? Hahahahahahaha!!

I for one am very excited for our balls deep pursuit of the 18th best DE and 22nd rated G after 6 weeks of free agency have passed. It'll be great! Then we can get pumped for reloading our punt coverage units with a 1st round DB pick. Along with a 230 lb DE in the 2nd round that doesn't fit anywhere in our scheme.
