Other than Doc not saying something stupid, I'm not sure what else the organization could have done to improve this.

Honestly, if I were a GM of another team, Simmons' behavior since that game would be a huge warning sign. Rather than take any ownership of his actions, he chose to be offended and demand others be reprimanded for saying mean things.

It’s starting to seem like there were things going on behind the scene and doc (and no one making him and embiid walk it back) was just the final straw

But who knows.

I agree. And I think you’re right and that’s partially why no one is giving up their guy (ie Sacto with fox).

But if the sixers don’t come out strong out of the gates this is gonna get ugly.

How is their schedule?

Schedule is fine. A couple of tough games. Some easy game. Tough road stretch in November.

I was just curious.

Say what you want, he’s one of the 5 best defenders on the planet

And an elite playmaker for others.

They’re going to miss that on some level.

But his flaws are brutal for playoff basketball as well.

That’s why the kyrie deal makes so much sense….even if he comes with his own headaches lol

The big mistake as I see it by the front office is not trading Simmons much sooner, like at the start of last season, when it was crystal clear that this guy was never going to improve his skills. He has not improved in a single category since joining the league. His stats are sad, because he was pretty good as a rookie and has remained...pretty good. Zero improvement as a shooter either at the line or in field goals.

So even if they could not get Harden, they should have gotten whatever they could then. Holding on to him turned out to be a big, big mistake.

Simmons can definitely improve just about any team. If he is given the right environment.

But his free throw shooting always limit his value unless he can improve it. You can't be a 50% shooter from the stripe as the primary ball carrier.

His inability/unwillingness to fix that is his biggest problem.

Well in hindsight, they should have traded Ben 3 seasons ago. But hindsight is lot easier than foresight.

I agree with this, and that is why it is asinine that Morey wants value for him like he wasn't a giant warning sign. Simmons has completely tanked his value with his attitude, and the sixers want other teams to ignore warts on his game and his personality.

The team that ultimately makes the Simmons deal is going to be driven by that age old thing we see in sports…coaching developmental arrogance. At the highest level, coaches believe they have the message and they have the approach to take talent to the next level. In terms of a deal, I agree with you. Simmons is damaging the potential value coming back. But at the same time, some one will fall in love with that unicorn like skill set of a big man that can do guard things.

Ha, there’s a new report from an ESPN reporter today that Simmons is willing to sit out the whole year.

The Sixers are responsible because Embiid essentially put the blame for the loss solely on Simmons.

Embid has hid Simmons' flaws for years playing more on the perimeter at the end of games so the Sixers could hide Simmons in the dunker spot. A goddamn 7 foot center has more perimeter game then your point guard, who also refuses to work on it.

Simmons is an entitled millenial pussy

Morey has to do whatever it takes to maximize his return. His job isn't to be reasonable. It's to make the best deal he can.

He's one of the best wheeler dealers in the NBA. I'm certain he has a plan

As long as he can get a jrue holliday type return he can land a beal if they want out

If you did say McDaniel balmero and 2 firsts (which is better than holliday imo) plus cap filler (prince fits Philly imo for this year and is expiring) you can offer like 4 firsts and balmero plus cap filler for beal.

Which is a reasonable deal for both sides

Well he is doing a damn good job hiding it if he does. I don’t think he has anything close to a plan for this.

He's going to get traded. And it will probably end somwehere and the deal will probably be good for all sides.

Personally I hope he is banished to SacTown.

I would be very surprised if he doesn't have a plan. He's probably planning to wait until December.

Minnesota, as you can see by the vast improvement of Rubios shot we are the best choice for him.

I wouldn't go quite that far...AD is kind of important too. lol

Seriously though, if he has anything left, which I believe he does, he's would be a great fit. He's an elite level or close to it 3 point shooter, he's an excellent passer and rebounder and he knows how to play alongside star players like Lebron and AD. And while he's been around awhile, he's only, I believe, 32. So, it's not like he's ancient.

He's a defensive liability, but the Lakers have Vogel who's an excellent defensive coach and can figure out ways to "hide" him at least for 5-6 minute stretches if need be.
would be like the AD move in a sense....nothing to lose. But I think there could be a lot more to gain with Love than AD.

In Philly.

He wouldn’t play more than 15 minutes a night.

Again, in Philly.

And he is correct.
Yep...but not what he said. He was trying to rip Love. If you want to buy the backtrack feel free. I don't.

Simmons gave them plenty of time to avoid this situation
OK...but what was the rush to make a deal just to make one? FYI, wouldn't take it as fact on reports of what Morey was asking for.
