I would be very surprised if he doesn't have a plan. He's probably planning to wait until December.

Making a mockery of the regular season is not a plan

worse than taking 30 cents on the dollar?
I don't know about going into the season is a worse idea, but they have to trade before Embiid also gets fed up. I have no idea when that is though. I would recommend they check in with him often though.

OK...but what was the rush to make a deal just to make one? FYI, wouldn't take it as fact on reports of what Morey was asking for.

Yeah. That was obviously propaganda. He's doing what he can to maximize the value of Simmons.

What is he supposed to do? Take a bunch of protected 1sts and just move on?

The Sixers will still win games. If Thybulle improved his shot a little and Maxey elevates his game, the Sixers could easily be a 4-5 seed without Simmons or whatever they would get in a trade. Realistically, the Sixers may be forced to accept a lot of future assets that they really don't want.

Or they could make a trade with the Cavs and bring back guys like Sexton and Okoro and take on the Love albatross contract.

I'm still holding out hope that the Kings come to their senses and either trade Fox for Simmons or trade Hield/Halliburton for Simmons, plus whatever side pieces are needed to make the deal happen. I honestly think that the Kings are the team that should be looking to make a big change. Being a perpetual late lottery team is the NBA death spiral.

I still remember when the pats were dangling Jimmy G and reports were BB wanted two number ones (and at time there were Browns' fans saying we needed to offer that). Think he was dealt for a 2nd rounder.

The regular season has always been a joke in the NBA, Morey was just the first that stop pretending it wasn't true

So according to KOC, Simmons wants out because he thinks he won't reach his full potential in Philly.

Apparently that is more important to him than learning how to hit free throws.

It’s got to sting when people like Shaq are telling him he just isn’t that good.

The problem with Simmons has always been that he assumed being an athletic freak was all he needed in order to be great. And that's just not the case.

He wants to be given the Greek the Freak treatment except he refuses to take shots and refuses to improve his free throw shooting.

As long as he can get a jrue holliday type return he can land a beal if they want out

If you did say McDaniel balmero and 2 firsts (which is better than holliday imo) plus cap filler (prince fits Philly imo for this year and is expiring) you can offer like 4 firsts and balmero plus cap filler for beal.

Which is a reasonable deal for both sides
The Sixers don’t really have cap filler if they deal Simmons.

Yep...but not what he said. He was trying to rip Love. If you want to buy the backtrack feel free. I don't.
I’m here for that if we want to rip a guy who had no place on a US Olympic team that was hurting for big men. Dude was so poor they just sent him home. He’s one of the most overpaid players in the league. On top of that, he can’t even stay on the floor.

That’s the thing with making the trade now so those fillers from the other teams would be available to be moved at the TD

Simmons not playing is 0 cents on the dollar

So….technically yes lol
No it’s not because you still have the asset. Once he’s dealt for peanuts now you’re in the same spot minus the asset.

That scenario likely entails the Sixers parting with young players they want to keep though. The easiest scenario is to use Simmons in that way. Tomorrow is never promised. You make the Minnesota deal now and hope that the Blazers or Wizards want those guys for Dame or Beal? That’s pretty risky.
