He needs to have extraordinary balls to overcome what’s coming his way. I haven’t seen anything like the hatred for this guy. This is like JD Drew times 10 and JD Drew had batteries thrown at him in left field. Ben Simmons better walk in that building rolling deep. He will absolutely need a police escort.

And he should

I recall playing our rival in hs, I hit a buzzer beater and we got a police escort out of the building

That was a farm town of like 5000 people

I can’t imagine being jd drew on steroids

Gonna need snipers up in the rafters

The biggest tampering came from the best Sixer since Allen Iverson - Kyrie Irving.
Kyrie blew up the Celtics when they were ascending toward being a top squad and then Kyrie chases Harden out of town because he’s a bitch. Kyrie has been low key the best thing to happen to the Sixers in quite some time.

Yea, but those Celts were able to get those picks and assets for Kyrie due to the Nets' stupidity trading for geriatric Garnett and Pierce.

And then, the Nets allowed Harden to go to Philly for the price of a player who was going to sit out a whole season because his feelings were hurt...

he will probably be like Kyrie when his teams came back to Cleveland and be "injured" and not show for like the first 3 years.....so soft.

There has been nothing as bad as the night LeBron came back to Cleveland after leaving for Miami- but the Philly fans may give it a run for their money.

100% agree.

We don’t know what Simmons will be and how he will respond. That is the major question mark here.

It is. Which is why there is risk for both sides. And which is why your statement of this being a terrible trade for the Sixers is misplaced.

I actually agree with you that Simmons COULD become a Hall of Fame level player. He has that talent. But his behavior over the last 18 months suggests that he will never get there.

For the Sixers, they made the move that gives them the best chance to win a title this year. I don't really care what people are chirping today because that is all based on prior assumptions. The Sixers chances of winning a title will come down to whether Embiid, Harden and Harris can stay healthy. If they stay healthy they have as good a chance of winning a title as anyone. Assuming that Harden and Embiid can work together which I will be SHOCKED if they can't.

Well it is literally a sports chat board. Is there a more fitting thing to talk about than the biggest trade in years?

Of course people are gonna give their takes, and many will be way off but so what?

We all have a right to an opinion.

I view this place like a bar where we've all had a few drinks and start spouting off our opinions. Some of them seem grounded and legit. Others sound unhinged.

FTR, I have a 50 year old birthday party dinner then cigar night tomorrow night. This chat helps me prep for that conversation. :)

They kept Maxey and Thybulle, that was the important part.
100%. Maxey and Thybulle were the most important assets on the team other than Embiid.

Simmons is so big and strong and fast... he can both create and finish easier opportunities.

But too often when Simmons faced greater resistance... he would get awkward with his finishes. From an "eyeball test" point-of-view... it is noticeable and weird.

Jayson Tatum has a similar type problem.

Sure.

He may not be able to finish in a wide array of shot types, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a good finisher.

Because the part that he does well is pretty good.

Time will tell.

We won’t really be able to evaluate this deal until after next season.

I suspect Philly fans won’t like it much by then.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am.

I am sure Harden and Embiid can theoretically
work together.

But look at Harden’s track record.

He has played with some of the very best in the league over the past few years. He has played with CP3, Russ, KD and Kyrie.

3 of those players have been in MVP conversations within a year of them teaming with Harden.

None of them could stand Harden by the time their time together was up.

There is a reason. He is a shitty teammate and his play style is extremely difficult for other stars to play with.

6er fans expecting this paring to work are not looking very closely at Harden’s past.

It probably will be.

Simmons’ beef was not with Curry and Drummond.
Drummond I can see not caring

but you don't think Curry has a right to be pissed off at thin-skinned Simmons?
