Why is that? Because the Sixers will be "allowed" to pay 32 Harden 200+ million for the next 4 years?

This reminds me so much of when Carmelo wanted to go the Knicks. And the Knicks, rather than just waiting, decided to give up the farm for him. Didn't really work out as planned for them.

You have Windhorst saying that Harden desperately wants to play in Philly. If the deal doesn't happen tomorrow, Harden is 99% leaving in the summer.

And again, you’ll be giving away green Harris and Simmons to add harden

There will be no replacement since you need the cap space.

Brooklyn wants those picks you’d need to use to dump Harris to get harden now.

Any deal without maxey is highway robbery for the sixers

They weren't willing to include Maxey last year. Why do you think they would be willing to include him now?

The Nets could actually be a better team with Simmons instead of Harden. But you think the Sixers need to give up the farm to get him? GTFOH.

FTR, if no deal happens the Sixers could trade Simmons for assets, trade Harris with some assets and then sign Harden on the open market. If they do a sign and trade, they don't lose Harris. They would, however, be hard capped.

Nothing will happen

Entirely possible. But I would lean towards something happening. And I suspect it will be pretty close to the deadline. Maybe enough time for both teams to make a couple of other moves.

They would lose Harris because they’re over the hard cap with him.

I’m just going by what Woj said, he said nothing much was happening. Gonna be tough to string together a big deal by the deadline but we will see. Marks wants more, Morey wants to give up the minimum. Like I said, I’m fine with no deal.l

Or they get Harden for $30 million a year instead of a huge extension if he really wants to be in Philly.

According to basketball reference the sixers are 36 mill over the cap right now

Whcih means to do that they’d need to shed 66m of salary beyond the current expiring deals To even do that.

This is why a trade with brook has always been the easier path

But y’all wanna be laughably unreasonable

Well I would expect a Cavs fan to want both the Nets and Sixers to stick to status quo. :)

Ben Simmons is a god send for the Nets. They are being saved from their own stupidity to try and resurrect what they thought could be multiple titles. That’s plenty fair for an aging Harden who can opt out of his deal after this season. But it’s the NBA and salaries have to match. So here’s Danny Green and Jaden Springer. This is the only basket for the Nets to shop from. The Sixers have the potential to consider multiple baskets this summer. Let’s be real. The Nets want James Harden more than anything else so if they’re even negotiating a trade of James Harden they don’t have the leverage. Morey isn’t unreasonable. He’s either winning or he’s not playing. He will take this into the summer if he has to.

Where are you getting these numbers? The Sixers total cap right now is 142 mil. The hard cap is 143 mil.

They will lose 12 mil in cap holds. They will trade Simmons 35 million. And lose Green's 10 mill.

And how is better if they trade for him now?

if the Simmons/Harden deal goes down- is that the biggest trade of the last 20 years?

i havent really thought about it---- but i cant imagine there is many bigger if any

What multiple baskets

Beal and lillard both are likely not going to be on the table.

You have the same hard cap issue with beal anyway

Anything that doesn’t Include maxey is a win

The cap is 121m next year

Which means to sign harden for even 30m per year you need to get down to 91m

The “role player” option is always going to be out there and in year 3 maybe Maxey steps forward to be even better. And why would a Harden trade be off the table this summer? That’s another option.

Nets have gone down a pretty far road with Harden- sitting him and all the rumors.

I think if they have been serious about it (both teams) it gets done.

If both teams have just been dicking around trying to make a lopsided deal and had no intention of getting serious- then of course its not happening.

But - man.....the Nets are such a crazy. Kyrie is crazy. Durant gets hurt. Harden is DEFINITELY going to pout and play even less D if he comes back.

but if all 3 are healthy and actually on the court they are prob. the best team in the NBA.

Its the craziest fucking team I have ever seen.

That siad- if Kyrie can actually play- Curry and Simmons are very good fits with him and Durant.

OK. I see what you are saying now. You were talking about signing Harden in space.

Yes, if they try to sign Harden in space then they would need to let Green go and move both Simmons and Harden and take back close to no salary in return. You could argue that would be better as they could just trade Simmons for assets in such a situation.

maybe I am not looking at it right---- but I wouldnt be rushing to give Harden and Beal 5 year 250 million dollar contracts in the offseason

maybe the numbers just seem big-- and it will normalize (which I am sure it will)- but Harden is getting old and plays no D right now.

Beal is younger- so Id feel more comfortable there- but hes definitely never been as good as Harden - and I am def. questioning if he is a guy who is a #1. He seems better suited as a #2.
