This guy did not get a scoop. This is an obvious trade which benefits both teams. Now if only the Nets could get that nut Irving to get his shots

I don't see that happening for one reason...they aren't giving up Hunter. I think Trae and Hunter are the two guys they will not trade. I could see this trade happening w/o Thybulle/Hunter and other players involvedSo now on to my next project assuming Harden deal goes through. harden isn't enough to make them a legit contender.
Atlanta gets : Tobias Harris and Mattise Thybulle
Philly gets: John Collins, Delone Wright and DeAndre Hunter
Philly values: getting out from under the Harris deal and inserting a younger less expensive PF that can improve the rebounding and team defense of the team in Collins. They add Hunter a young prospect with 3 and D potential that has had bad injury luck.
Philly detriment: Give up Thybulle and Harris consistency. He is a very efficient player. He is largely underrated for the way he's perceived...in nearly every case but his contract. They have to take on Delon Wright's bad deal.
Atlanta Values: they replace a guy who wants out with a consistent option that can get buckets alongside Trae Young. They also get out of the bad Delon Wright. They add a legit defender on the perimeter in Thybulle which helps them round out their team better.
Atlanta detriment: Harris is expensive and you give up on Hunter.

It doesn't fix their rebounding issues or their defensive issues. Why wouldn't they be legit contenders, assuming Harden and Embiid are healthy?
Not sure to be honest. With the changes in state law happening on indoor vaccine mandates, come springtime Kyrie could be a full-time player. Nets can at least see it through for a chance to compete for a championship. For the Sixers, it seems like they were punting on this year anyway. It's odd that there is no talk of any other deal Morey is looking at outside of Simmons. The team needs much including another body at guard. It does seem to me that, at this point, NOT making the trade would be bad for both teams.
That's fine, just wait until the offseason

Not if a deal requires Curry and Thybulle.
I'm guessing that this will go down to the wire with both sides looking to see which side will blink.
IMO, Morey is in the stronger position because he doesn't HAVE to trade Simmons. He can hold on to him until the offseason and then trade him to other teams. Marks either trades him now or faces the very real possibility of losing him for nothing in the offseason. OTOH, Morey may feel that he has to make a move to capitalize on Embiid's MVP level season.
i don't get why not just give the picks now to brook so you don't use them to clear out harris later.
Like that's what we're haggling over here.
you have to lose a few key role players to sign harden outright and you miss out on this year.
If the govt overreach ends before the playoffs, the Nets will still be favorites even if they're the damn 7 seed as long as the big 3 are all healthy.
I don't neccesarily think Harden is a huge get. Yes they are contenders without a doubt but off waiting till the offseason and getting a true fit, possibly a bit younger and not a drama queen.Because giving up all of your assets plus significant contributors for Harden makes the team worse.
