Boston showed extreme patience using their arsenal of picks. Danny kept them so long that the ultimate impact was more of a whimper.

Simmons' rep is only going to get worse with time as people forget his positive aspects and only see the guy who failed his last time on the court and fought with his team to get out from his "horrible situation on a perennial contender". The longer he sits out, the more distant his upside his appears to be.

Who would the Nets rather have if they move Harden; a non-scoring oversized point guard or Dame Lillard? One of the draft pick hoarding franchises could step up with a huge package of prospects and picks. Who knows what offers will arise if Harden hits the market.

Embiid isn't the best bait either, since he routinely misses 20 games a year and has yet to get past the second round.
If a Portland is quitting on Dame why are they taking back a Kyrie or Harden? They have no other assets. They’d be looking to rebuild. This projection is nonsense. And if Simmons value does drop from being a top 30 player these other deals are still going to be out there.

Dame Lillard may already be on the back 9 of his career. He hasn't looked right since the Olympics and now he is probably done for the year. And why would the Rockets want James Harden? He has one year left on his contract and the Blazers are looking to blow things up.

Why would Embiid be bait?

Harden is older than Dame.

I didn't specify the Rockets, just saying there are teams that can offer very nice pick packages along with young talent.

Embiid would be bait to draw in other vets as you noted (not trade bait as I think you're reading it). Draw is a better word than bait; I wasn't entirely clear there.

Also, if the Sixers were dumb enough to call and shop Embiid your Lakers would have to send AD picks and other assets to match up. GTFO on the Sixers even shopping the franchise.

I don't believe Portland has any intention of quitting on Dame; it would be more of a situation where Dame decides to move on (a la Harden). It was merely an example anyway, but how dare you undersell the awesome roster impact of Tony Snell!

I never said they would shop Embiid lol, just that he's not a perfect draw for other title-seeking vets.

But you see what I mean right? If Dame is out it’s time for a rebuild. You floated a third team with picks and young players. Who would that be? OKC and Houston come to mind. Why add Harden in their rebuilds? It’s silly.

Disagree. Any wing or combo guard would want to play with that guy. It’s a much better option than say a Harden forcing his way to NJ to be redundant with Kyrie.

Sorry that was a typo. I meant the Blazers, not the Rockets.

I honestly don't know how many teams would be willing to make a big splash for Harden. He's 33 years old and any trade package for him would require giving up assets that would hurt the team. The Sixers are in a unique situation in that they have a quality asset they could give the Nets that wouldn't hurt the current team.

I can't think of too many teams that would want to offer up more to get Harden.

That's a great example. Harden wants out this summer. What is out there that a team is going to provide the Nets for Harden that is going to be better for that team than Simmon? They have KD and Kyrie to score. Simmons doesn't need shots to impact the game and now KD isn't the only plus defender in their group. He gives them a guy who guards all 5 positions and can play small ball center for them.

This is the deal:

I'd do what I can to try and keep Maxey in that deal and float someone else but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. I would do that trade yesterday.

I think the Nets would do that trade in a heartbeat.

I think the fit could be difficult with Embiid unless Harden plays more like a real point guard (which he has shown he can do) and plays a whole lot less iso ball.

You don’t think Embiid is down for being Harden’s rim runner?

You'd think we'd have this issue fixed for them by now.
Jaylon Brown for Simmons and the ability of Tatum to actually grow a man’s facial hair instead of patchy peach fuzz.

Done and done. Both teams are better and we can be done with this.
