I think both sides should do that. Imo

But I also get Morey wanting to hold out for harden.

But man, how is that any less risky than getting like 4 first rounders so you can make a huge offer for a guy this summer?

Morey is taking a HUGE risk if he holds out for Harden in the summer.

totally agree.

And, if you don't get Beal, Harden or Lillard this summer.....what is your leverage at that point?

Plus you won't know that until after most teams have used up their cap space, leaving you back in the pre 12/15 timeline we just went through this year.

Is he though? There's some growing talk in NBA circles Harden is very open to looking elsewhere besides the Nets this Summer. And at this point, there isn't much difference value wise dealing Simmons at the deadline or in the Summer. If they had a great offer, he'd be gone by now. Some might even say they could get better value in the offseason as more teams will have flexibility so that increases options for trades.

The Sixers are wasting an entire session of a big man who probably only has ten elite seasons in him. There's no amount of rational in that thought process

While I agree with this, getting pennies on the dollar doesn't help Embiid win a ring.
I do not believe they should trade him just to trade him.

Now, $0.30 on the dollar?
$0.40?
$0.50?

Is getting a Portland deal based on CJ or a Kangz deal based on Fox/Hali going to move the needle for this season and beyond?
I don't think so.
I would rather they wait until the right move comes along.

And to be honest, the right deal may never come.
I'm ok with that.

I don't think they should trade him just to trade him either. But they way overstated his trade value during the draft and turned off a lot of suitors. I know we don't know for sure what was offered Yada Yada but a defender of his caliber and overall skillset is going to fetch you something desirable. Asking for the moon after your team leaders harpoon him wasn't a great idea.

I don’t see the advantage of adding RoCo and Ish and Washington and giving up Harris. My deal is much better suited to an end game that would get Morey off the pot.

We just value Harris very differently

The jury is still out on this one.

I do see it both ways. It's all on Morey, so this will most likely define his stay in Philly, for better or for worse.

The money is already paid and worked into the cap. He's a better player than RoCo and PJ Washington. I don't think that can be argued.

No, it isn’t that at all.

You just fail to understand how underwater contracts aren’t a bad thing for contending teams over the cap as long as that player is productive.

Trading that player along with assets for a “better contract” almost never makes a contender better.

Draymond and Wiggins aren’t great contracts, but if the Dubs had dumped them like you wanted, they would be a very average team right now.

No it is.

RoCo has consistently been a better player. Including this year.

They’re different players for sure. Plus you get Washington and you move off a bad deal

Yikes. You're propping up a 3 and D guy who shoots the 3 at 35% which is below the league average. And you clearly haven't watched RoCo and are just going with the national talking point that he is a good defender. If you actually watch him get cooked each time he's asked to lock down the other team's best player you'd have a different opinion. Shit, I thought you were a Celtics fan. You weren't paying attention when he was getting cooked in the playoff when the Celtics beat the Sixers in 5 games a few years back?

RoCo is nowhere NEAR as good a player as Harris. He's good at one thing. Off ball defense.

That’s a pretty big offer, huge if they were offering this years pick.
Yeah the 1st is huge this year but for Philly doesn't mean a whole lot if they want to contend in the next 2-3 years

Usually in these scenarios the team dealing the Star is scout to go into a rebuild. That’s not the Sixers who are trying to be a contender. This is an uncommon situation where the star doesn’t want out for a contender. He wants out because he’s a pussy.
