does anyone want to pay Harris 37 million dollars a year? yikes.

Honestly- if I was the Sixers its not a bad idea. Clear the deck and resign some guys while Embiid is still young and MAxey and Thybulle are still cheap.

I don’t. Very tough contract to deal.

I wonder if there is something there with the CAvs where you guys get Love who only has 1 year remaining, and the Cavs re-route Harris.

I dont know.

I will tell ya- I cant wait to see what a deal like Simmons + Harris looks like. It will have to be complex with multiple teams, big salaries moving all directions. An unwieldy beast.

Harris is a worse deal than Kembas was last year

So that would really destroy a return

Yeah but who could do both? Obviously has to be more teams involved I guess.

Kemba was a negative player on the court when he played last year. Which is why he was given a prove it contract this year and more or less failed to do so.

Tobias isn't a negative player. He was a borderline all-star last year. He's having an off year this year in large part, IMO, because he got knocked around by COVID. His contract is a negative contract certainly. And the Sixers would have give up assets to move his contract.

I personally think that people are misreading the rumors about the Harris rumors. I think they are specific to a Hawks trade as the Sixers want Collins and he is a terrible fit with Harris. So they may be willing to give up some draft assets to move him if they are getting Collins in return.

OTOH, I don't think for a second that they are going to move Simmons and Harris for expiring contracts to get the cap space to bring in Harden. That is an insane risk for them to take. Because they would need BOTH of them to be moved for expiring contracts. There is NO chance that would happen.

Expiring contracts and multiple picks in all likelihood.

Kemba was a top 50 player being paid like a top 10 player.

His value was closer to 25m but being paid 38.

I doubt Harris is even worth 25.

Doesn’t mean he’s a bad player. He’s a bad contract

Kemba wasn't a top 50 player last year. Which is why he was paid 10 million this year. Hurt too much and inconsistent on the court.

Harris isn't worth 35 million. But he is a positive player on the court who would be a starter level player for most NBA teams. He's roughly a top 10 power forward in the NBA.

Yes the Sixers would need to give up assets to move him. But he isn't a complete albatross like Love is right now.

He’s getting paid 9m because he’s getting paid the rest of his money by okc and this wouldn’t be offset on okc’s cap.

And he’s from ny and his dream was to play for the Knicks.

His knees are completely shot now though

He got bought out by OKC? This was an open market contract.

His knees were shot last year.

Interesting trade theory.

Hawks get
Simmons
Harris

Sixers get
Collins
Gallinari
Bogdanovic
Reddish

Probably some picks in the deal as well.

Theoretically they could swap Galo or Bogdanovic with Okungwu, Williams and Dieng. But I can't see that working.

Right.

Very similar to where people were on Draymond last season.

He isn’t worth $35 million, but he is a productive player the 6ers need.

If they are trying to contend with Joel Embiid, they aren’t making their team better by salary dumping Tobias Harris unless they get far enough under the cap to sign cheaper/better players.

Which probably isn’t happening.

I really can't imagine they are moving Harris just to get rid of his contract. That would be counter-productive and I think Morey is dumb enough to try and roll the dice in FA.

Now if they like Collins and think he could fit then that changes things. Which is why I think the Harris talk is attached to the Hawks discussions. Collins and Harris won't work together. So if they are bringing in Collins they have to move Harris somehow.

If that happens I go:
PG Maxey
SG Bogdanovic
SF Thybulle
PF Collins
C Embiid
Bench
PG Milton
SG Curry
SF Reddish
PF Niang
PF Gallo
C Drummond

I would deal Niang Gallo or Green to get a veteran PG. The biggest issue with this deal is that the Sixers still don’t have a guy who can get his own shot.

Well you would hope that the PG they get could create his own show. Honestly, I'm not sure who is out there right now. Maybe Malcolm Brogdan?
