I remember this and agree.
BB will try and find every loophole.
And exploit it.
Outright cheating is not his bag.
Shula crossed the line there.
BB had previously said Shula's record was not important to him and he did not want to coach that long anyway.
I believe Shula's comments changed his mind.

I just hope the old bastard lives long enough to see his record smashed.

Shula coached during the "no free agent" and "No Cap" early years. He went to the Super Bowl 5 time and won twice. He coached longer than nearly any other coach in NFL history and was the first to win 100 games in 10 years. Could he have accomplished the same under today's rules and restrictions in the NFL?? I highly doubt it.

By the way, Shula is 89. He was born in Jan. 1930.
