Might be a bit early for this, but with the SB win - here are the up-to-date totals:

Shula: 347
Halas: 324
Belichick: 292

Belichick already has the most post season wins by a large margin:

Belichick: 31
Landry: 20
Shula: 19

Shula's totals just might be reachable

6 more season would do it. 9.5 wins per season. I think it would take longer.

How old was Shula when he retired?

How many years did Shula coach, what was his win percentage?

Again, different era. Half of Shula's career was a 14 game season.

It took Shula 33 years to get to where he is. Belichick is 66 and he's only been a head coach for 24 years.
George Halas who's number 2 coached for 40 years. Belihick should live so long.

Halas and Shula will never reach Belichick's NFL Championships.

I don't get the point of this article. First, Belichick has faced similar crticisms right on this board over personell decisions. Second, it's well known that his methods were not seen as the double edged swords they are viewed as now until he experienced significant winning.

This article acts like their some revisionist history with how he was percieved during his Brown's tenure. Is there anyone who thinks his Brown's tenure showed signs he might eventually be the best coach in NFL history?

Yes.
He was the last coach to win a playoff game with the Browns.
He would have multiple SB's with the Ravens if they had not fired him, and he would have had multiple SB's with the Browns if they had stayed in Cleveland and kept him.

Ok...he would have had multiple playoff wins in Cleveland.

But yes, poorly written article as well.

The point of the article as I saw it:

A chance to review criticism of Belichick through quotations.
Simple off season stuff. Can't enjoy people being quoted after time has passed?

See what Art Modell let get away. People want to think it was the Browns that fired BB. Nope. The Ravens fired him.

11-6-95: Art 'the weasel' Modell announces he's moving his franchise to Baltimore

2-9-96: NFL approves the move & announces agreeement that Cleveland keeps the Browns name & history

2-15-96: Art fires Bill & replaces him with Ted Marchibroda

That's some odd stuff considering it was Marchibroda who gave BB his NFL start.
