Well that is what Seattle tried to do with him his last season and he still broke down.

The guy is such a good story, it's hard not to get caught up in all the emotion of it. And I certainly wish him all the best going forward, being such a cog in the Hawks past success. However even among Seahawks fans there was some rose colored glasses about Lynch's past couple of seasons. My argument about 'the play' in '14 was that Marshawn had struggled mightily in short yardage (obvious running downs), getting stopped for a loss or no gain a LOT. Everyone assumes he'd have punched it in from the 1, but he'd been pretty meh against stacked run D's for a year and a half.

Could he be rejuvenated? Sure. Could Oakland's O line just be that good? Yes. Lynch was still murder if he could get to the second level, running over LB's and DB's.

Could his back derail the whole feel good story? Sadly yes.

Could father time continue to kick over 30 RB's in the teeth? Yes.

I'll be rooting for him to do well in Oaktown.

But there's no guarantee he's going to be the Marshawn of old.

15 carries per game an a 4.0 ypc average would push Lynch over the 10,000 yard mark in his career, push him into Top-25 all-time rushers vicinity and start up a realistic HOF conversation.

This seems to be part of the goal IMO: Come into a Oakland franchise that is deserting it's fanbase for Vegas and play hero for a year or so to continue his Bay Area Legend status (HS, Uof Cal), and push himself over the 10,000 yard mark to have a shot at HOF. Then ride off into the sunset covered in skittles.

An interesting note that I read is that despite being out all of last year and 9 games the year before, Lynch still has 66 more broken tackles than the next closest back in the last 4 years. If true, that is crazy and indicates to me that he should still be at least somewhat effective.

He needs more than 10,000 yards rushing to have an argument. Guy only played 16 games once in his career, and only 1 All Pro selection. But they did let Bettis in.

This is an olive branch to the fans, a salve put on the wound of the fans by the organization after announcing they're breaking camp for Vegas. Lynch's last decent year was 2014. I say 3.8 ypc and injuries. Gonna sell lots of jerseys "doe", like really really really.
