It was a good signing before the rest of the signings. I dont have much faith in Allen producing much more than peppers did last year, but that signing pretty much sealed Izzys fate.

Pretty much. I was really looking forward to seeing him back in the fold, but then when we brought in Allen… it was kind of like he had nowhere to fit in. And he can play SPT's like he used to, so that seals his fate.

Always liked him a lot. Hope he catches on somewhere else and has a good year or two.

One of the most unbelievable physical specimens to look at in his prime. Dude was seriously the most shredded dude I've ever seen. He was what? 6'7 270… and a freaking gunner on SPT's for a few years? LOL, unreal. That had to be intimidating. That was when our SPT's was absolute top notch too.

I used to point him out on kick offs because he was this huge man running down the field and just looked scary

Damn, they must feel good about what they have.

Oh and someone said JA will do what peppers did last season. I doubt that considerably. He will actually have some help, and he doesnt take plays off. If anyone wants to make a bet on the production of JA being better than Peppers was last season, you knwo where to find me.

Whoever said that is a moron. Sorry. They're totally different players, and JA's production has been consistent as hell. Especially considering he's been on THE single worst defensive line in the NFL.

Peppers also had the flu the first month or two of last season, apparently he couldn't shake it. Also, coincidentally, Cutler supposedly caught it prior to his worst performance of last year vs Detroit. They said he played with over a 102 fever.

Um, huh? My friend, Minnesota's DL was far from the worst d line in the league last year. Just to piss 6340 off, FootballOutsiders had the Minn D line 10th in rush defense and 17th in pass defense. And this against a team with a garbage offense. Just to make amends with 6340, I will point out that just from the eye Jared Allen was the worst run defender on that line. He always tries to win with speed outside, but opponents knew that and ran right inside his position.

I don't think this is a huge deal with the Bears, because Briggs is playing behind him on most downs, and because the Bears (on paper) did a lot to pick up their run defense. This is the main thing I love about the Houston signing. But if the Bears run D improves this year, I'd be surprised if it is because of Allen.

Sorry to see Izzy go. He was a great role player. Every team needs one. I'd have to think Collins and Washington are a little more hopeful now. Emery's move to youth personified.

thought it was a numbers game, but after they released Izzy, they signed some undrafted free agent defensive end yesterday.
