He is mostly being criticized for pulling Hill, now you are suggesting he should have pulled him before the start of the 7th? It's pretty standard, especially with a 4 run lead, to send him out and then pull him at the first sign of trouble and that's exactly what he did. Obviously I agree with you about the last part but that's not what he is being criticized for.
He went to the players who had come through for him all year. They didn't get it done, that's on the player not the manager.
He pulled Hill from facing a lefty. He had just struck out a lefty after that walk. Plus, as I just stated, pitchers rarely admit fatigue. If Hill is claiming fatigue entering the 7th, he probably was tired all of the 6th inning as well. When you're trailing in a series, I don't think you have the luxury of waiting for the first sign of trouble; you have to stay ahead of that, especially when a pitcher is telling you something like that. Lead-off walks have been a huge threat this series, and this no different.
As far as going to his guys that had come through for him all year, Alexander wasn't even active for the NLCS. Madson had struggled the last time coming into an inning with inherited runners. Yet those are the guys chosen?
