Terps loves Thompson and has followed him since HS. He loves the kid. I'm sure we all will soon.


We might have a pretty damn good rotation in AAA next year.

It has been a very long time since we have gotten a pitcher of his caliber signed in an open market. I won't hold out hope of signing a pitcher like that until they actually do it. I think we are going to have to grow our own staff other than filling out the back end of the rotation at times and we seem to have plenty of candidates who could fill out the back end of the rotation. Mid-season trades might be the only way to get pitchers like Shields here.

Very true. Hamels or another guy we might be able to acquire through trade may be a more likely scenario. Gallardo is a possible FA, but isn't quite the quality of the other 2.

Well our conversation was about 2016. I agree though. I think we're all in agreement that we need at least 2 starters for next year. I hope Miles keeps learning how to be consistent because I don't want NT or NM on the rotation at all, unless it's for spot starts.

I hate the win/loss for pitchers. How many times does the offense determine what a pitcher gets tagged with? Games decided like 1-0 or 2-1 indicate good pitching that gets a loss because lack of offense thus a loss for a well pitched game. I think we've had some of these.

Who has seen the video of Tony Stewart? Man, I don't know, but it sure seems like he might have hit him on purpose. He goes to the right and you can hear him hit the gas. I watched it over and over. I'm sure he didn't mean to kill him, but the intent sure seems to be there.

I don't think we are going anywhere next year and most likely not in 2016 so we might as well find out what we have with the Nicks next season. Sometimes it takes 100 starts or so before you know what you have with a starting pitcher. Lee and Verlander are two examples of starting pitchers who took about that many starts before they started coming into their own. It just takes awhile to get acclimated to the big leagues for most guys.
