Kansas City’s offense has been steady and relatively mistake-free this season, tied for 13th in the 32-team league with an average of 24 points a game and the fourth-fewest turnovers in the NFL.

“The Chiefs are built for cold weather, they’re built for January," Brian Baldinger of NFL Network said.

How does Peyton Manning do in the cold?

The Chiefs offense is higher rated than the Broncos defense but the Chiefs are too one dimensional to win in the playoffs.... LOL

Broncos beat Cowboys 51-48
Stats provide an extremely limited view of the past. Picking 1 stat to use as a guide to the future is only as a good as the wisdom behind the choice of stat. Examples: The Broncos beat the Chiefs last year so they'll likely beat them again. The Ravens won the Super Bowl so they're likely to win it again. The 49ers beat the Rams by a greater margin than the Seahawks did - so the 49ers must be better than the Seahawks.

Stats can be useful and entertaining. They can provide insight into a past event that may, (or may not) be relevant to the future. As the small print states: 'past performance is no guarantee of future success'.

That's certainly not RECENT history of teams that start 9-0.

and the Chiefs' five remaining teams are 34-22 (0.607).

but note that the Broncos’ first eight opponents combined for only 26 wins through week nine. Denver’s second half opponents have 41 wins through week nine

the teams KC played away from Arrowhead so far combined for only 11 wins

the teams Denver played away from Mile High so far combined for only 13 wins

I don't know if I would use the Cowboys game as a great example of mutual opponent considering the Chiefs had them at home where the Broncos were in Dallas. Throw in the Chiefs have one more road game played than that of the Broncos so that 11 wins to 13 wins thing is pretty ridiculous to try and use. Right now the record of away teams on the Broncos schedule is 12-13 where for the Chiefs 11-23. So again way to really bend the stats towards your side.

Keeping It Real

The KC DEF has been quietly building for several years...I think it's pretty safe to say that they are going to the playoffs...depends on how they do in the 2 h-t-h matchups with DEN, but I still think they will be a WC.

The PA stats are not that impressive given the QBs they've played against, but the DEF side of the ball I trust anywhere at this point...on the road or at home. Kind of like SF...down 2 scores in the game, I'm concerned, especially 2nd half.

If it comes down to it, I'm taking my chances with Peyton Manning over Alex Smith.

Broncos fans like to bang on the Chiefs for their schedule when the reality is the only good team the Broncos themselves have played this year beat Denver and the only average team they played ( Dallas) dropped 48 points on them. Neither team has beaten anyone yet to hear Broncos fans talk youd think their schedule has been some gauntlet of high caliber teams. I guess because their offense is great it means theyre for real but the Chiefs D being great just means the Chiefs offense sucks??? LOL

This is true, but the Chiefs have been barely beating bad teams while the Broncos have been obliterating them. Denver is also coming off a 13-3 season while the Chiefs are coming off a 2-14 season, which means Denver's success is easier to believe because they've sustained it longer.

I would throw in the Chiefs have yet to suffer any kind of serious injury to any key player. They I would say have been one of the luckiest teams in the league when it comes to health so far. Now I understand though that luck plays a part in this league since the margin for victory and loss are so close. Have to say though I am getting so tired of this Chiefs/Broncos debate. Just ready for the two of them to play.

Totally agree with that. In fact, it's not just lucky that they haven't suffered any significant injuries, but they've been extremely lucky in facing opponents that are injured, specifically regarding all the back up quarterbacks they've been playing. Of course, credit still goes to the Chiefs for taking care of business, because good teams take advantage of those kinds of breaks, and that's what the Chiefs have done.

I, too, am ready to play the Chiefs. Let's just get this Chargers game out of the way and then it's on.

Don't know why you would be tired of that, it is one of the best stories right now. It has a lot relevance regarding how the div will play out. After this weekend, they play twice in 3 weeks so the matter will be laid to rest soon as a lot of speculation will suddenly vanish.

I guess I am just ready for the players to fight it out on the field than for fans to fight it out on a message board. I am ready to see who wins the battle between best offense against best defense. I guess to me in the media, on message boards, and living about half way between Denver and Kansas City I hear this talk all the time. Stats supporting both sides have been thrown out like crazy so just ready for all of that to be put aside and just let the players do their thing.

Based on history, the Chiefs will lose their first game in the playoffs in Arrowhead. Again.

Chiefs don't win in KC in the playoffs. They just don't

the last time the Chiefs won either a road or home playoff game was the 1993 season, when they had Joe Montana and beat the Steelers (Bill Cowher) at home in Arrowhead, then beat the Oilers (Warren Moon) on the road in the Astrodome, before losing at Buffalo (Jim Kelly/Thurman Thomas) in the AFC Championship Game

Thats actually not as true as it seems. KC has the second biggest win margin in the NFL behind Denver. Now the Chiefs have won a few close games ( more than Denver ) but they have also won by double digits in 5 of their 9 wins and won by 9 in another game. While its true they arent winning by 20-30 like Denver they are beating teams by a wide margin more often than not. It just doesnt feel like it because 24-7 isnt as awe inspiring as 45-24 or whatever. LOL

Fair point. Injuries for sure play a HUGE part in a teams success ( look no further than my Falcons who were amazingly healthy last year and have been decimated this year)

This isnt the only thread involving the Chiefs on this site man. Ive read some of them and the schedule is the biggest reason given for KC's success by most Bronco fans. You know it and I know it. As a Broncos fan Im sure youve read plenty of the comments.
