Gonna bet on himself and try to hit free agency during the cap spike. Lots of teams will have cash and really not many guys to spend it on in 2016 so he might actually be able to get more.

Reggie Jackson turned down a 4 year 48 million dollar last offseason and people (myself included) gave him crap for it… look how that turned out.

Well Detroit was very stupid as they were just bidding with themselves for Jackson but I understand your point

16 million a yr. is way to much for Harrison Barnes, can't believe he turned that down.

I agree that it's too much for him, but I also agree with the others who say that he's smart to turn it down. With the expected jump up of the salary cap, a lot of guys are going to be overpaid. Barnes may as well be one of them.

Wow...

A guy is worth whatever a team is willing to pay him.

The Dubs have some decisions to make.

They are in a similar situation as the Cavs.

Do you give 2 guys who play the same position huge contracts in the same off season?

With them needing to extend Ezeli as well...that's a tough call.

But, I think they need to do all they can to keep Curry happy so that re-upping with the Dubs is a no brainer.

This team is stupid-fun to watch. I hope they keep the band together.

But, can they justify paying Barnes more than Draymond, if it comes to that?

I'd still give him crap for it, because he's done an awful lot of losing as a starting PG. He would have been better served as a sixth man in a quality organization like OKC.

Matt Barnes would sign for a couple of coupons for an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Yeah, he's stuck in Detroit. Passing on playing for a contender is different.

The NBA is in the midst of a salary upheaval.

A guy who cost you $8M per year two years ago is going to cost you $16M a year next offseason. Just the way it is with the salary cap almost doubling over the span of 4 years.

I know we are in a new financial era where salaries are concerned.

I won't use Curry as an example because we all know he is underpaid, by NBA standards.

But, this guy makes more than the guy he had no chance of replacing, Russell Westbrook.

That is mind boggling.

Like most things in life, timing is everything. Worry not for Westbrook though. Come 2017 (his free agency), he'll be making 25 to 30 mil per season easy
