No analysis?
I love these kinds of posts... Great work dude.Well, earlier at least, people didn't seem all that interested in the previous analysis post, and this second shorter trailer also just didn't have as much stuff in it to go over. But since you asked:
0:03 in order: Manhattan Island, Liberty Island, Citi Field (all NYC locations), largely abandoned, showing the devastation wrought by the Snap, rumored to be called the Decimation in the MCU, though in the comics, Decimation refers to a different event (the elimination of mutants by Scarlet Witch after the events of House of M)
0:08 A support group for the Snap. It is possible the members of this support group might be veterans, as that would be the sort of group Captain America (seen in the next shot) would join and would be a callback to Falcon running veterans' support groups in Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Also, it is known that Stan Lee filmed a cameo for Endgame before he died. Since Stan Lee appeared as a veteran invited by Steve to Tony's party in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, it is possible that that version of Stan Lee will return and that this is also the Stan Lee cameo scene.
0:14 Scene of Tony and Nebula presumably still stuck on the Benatar like in the first trailer. Their working side-by-side, cut off from others, on rigging up a solution in a life-and-death situation recalls the original Iron Man (2008), in which Tony and Yinsen had to similarly work side-by-side while cut off from others in a life-and-death situation. There is also a nice symmetry here in that both are half-biological, half-machine.
0:15 This is the Avengers base, since the logo can be seen on the building in the background. They are looking up, so it is likely someone is arriving from the sky or space, possibly Captain Marvel, Iron Man and Nebula, or Thor and Rocket.
0:16 In Thor 3: Ragnarok, Odin suggested the place where he died as a good location for New Asgard. That place was in Norway (in contrast to Oklahoma being the location of New Asgard in the comics). My guess is that, given the friendship they established in Avengers 3: Infinity War and a talking raccoon being out of place in most of Earth, Rocket Raccoon is staying in New Asgard with Thor.
0:20 Again, this might be New Asgard.
0:25 From right to left, we have Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Rocket Raccoon, Ant-Man, War Machine, and someone hard-to-see, likely Bruce Banner or Clint Barton. The interesting thing here, though, is the significant gap between Ant-Man and War Machine. We know that the trailers sometimes have edited shots (for example, for the Avengers 3: Infinity War trailers, Hulk was shown in the Battle of Wakanda, but in the actual movie, Bruce never transformed into Hulk and was in Hulkbuster armor throughout the Battle of Wakanda). Someone was possibly edited out between Ant-Man and War Machine to avoid a spoiler.
The shield he used in IW was a Wakandan one. He doesn't have his classic shield anymore. Wether he gets it back, or that shot is from the past (we know time travel will happen in Endgame), I dunno, but I can guarantee you this movie will HEAVILY focus on Tony and Steve.I love these kinds of posts... Great work dude.
I was curious about the Rocket & Thor scenes in the trailer. Looked like they were in search of something. And you probably nailed it. Much better than any theory I was able to come up with. Speaking of Thor, around 0:19 there's a brief moment of Thor looking upon something glowing gold. Any ideas? Maybe just a campfire with Rocket?
Also the shield-strapping moment in the trailer... Pretty dramatic effect there. Maybe some sort of callback to Civil War when Cap gave up his shield when Tony made a point of him being worthy of it. Seeing as how Cap & Tony never quite settled their differences, that might be alluding to them resolving their dispute? But Cap had a shield in Infinity War, so that might be a stretch of the imagination. Although I sort of recall the shield in IW being different? IDK, probably just symbolizing the fight ahead. His hands looked pretty dirty & weak, like he was amidst a brutal fight.
Great catch on the 0:25 mark! My guess is Captain Marvel.
Well if that is true, then we're in for some good character drama. Because we know their relationship is going to take something drastic to repair it. One would say the snap was drastic enough, but teaming up for the sake of humanity might not absolve their conflict. Tony looked pretty damaged mentally after the fight with Thanos, so maybe that opens the door for a reconnect with Cap.The shield he used in IW was a Wakandan one. Well, he lost....the fight he'd been dreading since The Avengers. And why? Cuz as Cap said, the weren't together.Well if that is true, then we're in for some good character drama. This looks awesome! April is too far away.New trailer!
New poster:
I get the optics of the only black female not being listed, but her character is BY FAR the most minor character of all those shown. I would argue that including her in the image was the stretch, not omitting her from the cast list. After Marvel got complaints yesterday about Danai Gurira being the only person shown on the poster who didn't get credited in the names at top, Marvel issued a new version of the poster with her name added:
Should have just removed Michonne from the poster. After Marvel got complaints yesterday about Danai Gurira being the only person shown on the poster who didn't get credited in the names at top, Marvel issued a new version of the poster with her name added:
