Pay back time. Need to sweep.
Last series was a massive dud.
I think it’s been 4 days since we had a lead in a ball game. Pathetic!
It is time to finish the rebuild. It would be great to add another piece or two at the deadline and then sign better free agents in the offseason.Things go wrong that you never expect.Re: Minor's 0-4. No long balls, rusty defense. Lots to clean up.
Tatis Jr. Is a good example of what a mid-season trade can accomplish. Him and another player was had in exchange for James Shields when Shields numbers didn't look that great, especially by NL standards.
i get the feeling that it means we will do nothing this off-seasonEvan recently wrote an article about his interview with a member of the Rangers ownership group. I will copy and paste the important stuff below. The rest of the article was political garbage.
"Though the Rangers began Monday at .500, they have missed the playoffs three consecutive seasons and face an uphill battle, even with MLB’s expanded playoff system, to break that streak this season.
In addition, Leibman acknowledged the ownership group would make a capital call in the next 40 days. He called it “significant,” but declined to discuss the amount. It will not be the first capital call for the group. Nor will it be the last. Another one is expected in 2021.
So, what does that do to payroll?
It’s impossible to gauge revenues for next season because of ongoing pandemic concerns and the possibility of no fans in the stands. But they do have about $67 million in contracts that expire after this season – including the last payment to Prince Fielder. He said the team will not “tank.” But he also did not commit to adding payroll or re-investing the savings from expiring contracts.
“We will field a good team,” he said. “We have to have some young guys coming up. But we are not making cuts to the team just because it would save us a few dollars. That is not the way we think.”
On Monday, he revealed some of ownership’s thinking."

That quite an exaggeration and not anything close to reality. That's like saying winning the Powerball is a good example of what buying a lottery ticket can accomplish. Technically correct, but the odds are astronomically against it.
None that are even close to a Rendon? The list is somewhat underwhelming. Are there any appealing free agents this offseason?

Also, it does not take anything akin to winning the Powerball to make it a wise course of action.
We got Allard for Chris Martin and Solak for Pete Fairbanks. Trades can make a huge difference for a team when they have more than a Martin and a Fairbanks to trade.
If we traded our best trade piece and didn't get the next Tatis would it be a failure? Of course not. If we fail to trade someone that is valuable when it makes sense to, like we did with Minor, is that a failure? Yes, it is.
The Powerball analogy fits more with the Hamilton deal that JD needed to build a winner a little over a decade ago.
I don't think we even do that. The narrative last year was completely different when we attempted to pursue Rendon.we will make a few half assed attempts at some big name free agents to make it look like we’re trying........ then do nothing
