Colby is completely healthy. He's just not pitched in over a year. Harrison is a bit of a question mark but looks really promising. Point is, you don't make rash decisions based on short sighted assessments. That's how you end up like the angels.

how is trading moreland and some prospects a rash decision? we're probably gonna end up doing something like that anyway in july lol

Apparently the club sees enough in Moreland to want to keep him for the time being. Obviously they didn't get overwhelmed with any offers for him or they would've done exactly what you said.

i dont understand why everyone thinks these guys are gonna come back off of injury in the middle of the year and just kill it, and not have any more injury problems the rest of the season. having 3 pitchers come back off of injury, especially after missing well over a year, and having a lot of success is catching lightning in a bottle

Seems more feasible than having Moreland headline a trade package for a quality SP.

Very very concerned about Lewis...he's been out a long time, and he wasn't the most consistent SP to begin with...I love the guy, but worried he may have seen better days...

What? Colby was the very definition of consistent. His biggest issue was he was prone to the long ball, but usually limited the damage.

That's what I meant, yes, he was an innings eater, but he was prone to the big inning

yes, it was. he wanted to sign either cruz or morales and trade moreland

And Cruz didn't want to dh and obviously JD didn't get the value he was looking for by dangling Moreland so your point is moot.

i mean i like him and everything, but i feel like there were enough trade targets available to make a move... for example even someone like a tyler skaggs is someone i wouldve liked to get. but names like price's scherzer's and others were thrown around, and i like to think that one of those would have worked... unless JD wasnt offering good enough prospects along with mitch

No he wasn't. He was prone to a long ball, which he usually limited to solo shots.

Again, apparently JD didn't want to mortgage the future by offering whatever prospects were being asked for.

I've seen about enough of this garbage. I might just check back in the beginning of May.

So he wanted to forfeit 2 draft picks? Doesn't seem like his MO

No, but you have to do what you have to do. Better to lose your 1st 2 draft picks for one year, then to lose 2 first round picks in a row. If you're gonna sign players with draft pick compensation, then its best to sign them in the same offseason. Baltimore is giving us their second round pick for cruz, and i bet they were more than happy to do that, rather than waiting another year and giving up that 1st rounder too. if you're in, you're in.

So Tyler Skaggs is trustworthy?
