Nice job by Vincent. Pounding the zone with quality strikes, and even some obvious balls that were strikes

Nicasio got very lucky that inning

He made some quality pitches. There's no question what the Stros can do. Lucky or not I'll take that in a 1 run game all day every day.

I agree, but 86 mph slider down the middle to Springer probably isnt a good idea

Yes!

That was a game for baseball lovers right there.

Also our best shot at a win this series. 1 more would be great.

I don't have cable at the moment but 2-1 is an amazing score that they can pull out the win. 2-1 victories is not a way this team is designed to win with Nicasio (from boxscore) being the set up guy.

nice to get the first one.. Paxton did a good job but threw too many pitches early to go deeper. He made some pretty good pitches and never seemed to get a call.

I hope the offense can get it going the rest of the series. M's are set up pretty good for a split. Of course hoping for more but hard to expect it.

If you go 6 innings vs Houston and only give up a solo HR then you did your job as a SP. Pax was excellent, threw 100+ pitches, didn't get rattled by that lead-off HR, and there were probably upwards of 15 "balls" that added to his count early in the game.

Keuchel was tough. Even though he gets the loss, he's the only pitcher they had to use so they are set up pretty well for tonight. I doubt 2 runs is going to be enough from here on out, but it was great to get the win in a game where we couldn't get much going on offense.

That home plate ump had a weird strike zone. Didn't do Paxton any favors. Anything on the edge of the left side of the plate or bottom of the plate (as the pitcher is looking at homeplate) was being called a ball. But they were getting some high strikes and borderline pitches on the right side of the plate. It took Paxton almost four innings to get the strike zone figured out. When Paxton walks three guys in a game, you know that the home plate ump has his head up his ass.

So, to win this game against a pitcher (Kuechel) who has had our number in the past, is a great start. Tonight, I think, is going to be a slug fest. Miranda really shouldn't be a starting pitcher. He doesn't do well at all the 2nd and 3rd time through a lineup. And McCullers is struggling big time. We need this game because Cole and Morton are probably going to mow the Mariners down.

Watched the last few innings and was scared in the 9th because Diaz clearly didn't have his good fastball. Thankfully that slider is so good and we wasn't facing the meat of their lineup.

Yea when I saw him struggling to get the heater into the strike zone I thought we may be in a little trouble with just a 1 run lead.

Walking the leadoff hitter in the 9th with a 1 run lead is a great way to blow a save ... Diaz got away with one that time
