A good point a commenter on PFT made was that it’ll probably pass when it goes to the vote of the full membership because there are a lot more ham and egg guys who want to work under almost any circumstances than there are superstar players that are opposed to this deal. Apparently the full membership will still get to vote on it even if the reps vote against it as the exec comm did.

If more than half the full membership votes yes it’s a done deal.

The Executive Committee only gets to be in the news when the CBA is about to expire and the Owners put forth a proposal. Once the players vote the Exec. Comm. goes back into their cubbies. The Owners are not being unreasonable with their requests and when the superstars are making the money that they get, it'll be difficult to pull the guys making $5M a year or less along with guys making $25M or more. I think the owners will accept the players' suggestions and everyone will walk away happy.

There really doesn't seem to be anything that is rustling feathers. I would like to see the players force a cap bump immediately to $250M and force a 10% increase for the following three years. Set a minimum spending level at no less than 90% of the cap. That way the small market teams and greedy owners would have to find a way to spend at least $225M. That's just me.....

They should all get a 6% raise on all previously agreed upon salaries for any seasons that get extended to 17 games, too. The 250k cap is bogus.

Remove pot from the list is not so simple. It is still illegal to the Federal Gov. It is illegal in many states.
What will they do if a player gets popped for pot? I know many of you think pot should be legal.Not sure I disagree.
Making it legal in NFL but still illegal is complicated.
Now betting on NFL is legal. What happens when a team loses a big game because the QB is smoking pot at halftime?
How does illegal activity affect the legal outcome of a bet?

Call me a prude but I'm just thinking there is a lot to consider.....

Some corporations drug test, others do not.
What they test for is at their discretion. 4 panel, 5 panel, 9 panel or 10 panel are the common ones. Then come the steroids and such.
When an employee fails a drug screen they are generally not turned over to the feds.
If the NFL chose to not test for THC that would not be allowing or disallowing.

Don't test for THC? Test and lessen the consequences? Status quo? Not sure what the right answer is, but my opinion is it's a gateway and should not be legal. I feel I would be smarter right now and would have been more successful in life overall if I had not partaken heavily during my developmental years.

Teams are starting to clear cap space and these veterans don't have to wait for free agency to begin. If they're willing to take a cut in pay for a team, they could be signed by the end of the day on Sunday. They'd be smart to find a home before the free agents can officially sign anywhere. These are the kind of cuts that throw the FA market into turmoil.

My ability to logically draw conclusions is the link. Prince had his best seasons of his career under Fangio and I do actually have sources that have talked to Prince saying he would love to reunite with Fangio and that the Broncos are his first choice.

Gabriel fits the fact that the Broncos need a speed element added to the offense and won't cost an arm and a leg to make it happen. Both again worked with Fangio and a good chunk of the Broncos' staff.

I've never understood how the union could fight so much for certain individuals to the detriment of the majority of players. It would be good for the most players to figure out a way to keep the top salaries down, while negotiating the biggest slice possible. That would help teams whiles not changing the amount paid to all players collectively. That would raise the median salary and raise the average for anyone below the median. THAT would benefit more players than almost anything else they could do...

Adding more players to the roster would help more players overall, but hurt the players already on the rosters, but probably not a lot. I don't understand that if they get 48% of the take, why would they need more money for a 17th game when the 17th game itself would generate more revenues and by itself add to the pool via the 48% split.

...and I agree with your position regarding your involvement with the union. I don't think unions are evil because because without them some true evil would reign... But often they fight for everyone for the sake of fighting and in the process protect many who should be out on their cans. Some of the stories I've been told by individuals milking the system protected by unions makes my blood curdle.

I was in the IAM (Machinists) from 1972 until 1977. I sat on the sidelines in 1973 when the bargaining on a new contract took place and got shut out of everything. I became a Shop Steward and VP of our local and caused more than a few problems with the "Old Guard" of officers who kept saying "That's the way it's always been."
In 1976 I was on the negotiating committee and we had a Luxury Suite at a local hotel where the local bargaining was held. When we got to the hotel three of the old guys brought in binoculars. I asked them what the hell they had them for and one of them walked to window and point across the street. The YWCA had room on the second, third and fourth floors and these guys were going to sit in front of the window watching women in their rooms instead of negotiating local issues. Being the asshole that I am, when we left for the day, I went to the front desk and told them to change the room away from the street, No one to this day knows what happened or why we were moved but we got more work done than ever before. I graduated from college in 1977 and was immediately promoted to management and placed on the Union Oversight Committee. Oh yeah, I worked for General Electric from 1972 until 1982 when the accident at Three Mile Island made GE get out of the Nuclear Power Business.

Like anything else, people who are not educated and think in very small circles are never benefiting the group as a whole, they're generally thinking about themselves and what they want. I want a raise. I want more vacation time. I want more sick days.

Now that everyone is at the Combine, the stories are starting to get interesting.

I don't have links or who initially reported this stuff but it's being talked about. Matt Patricia is supposedly in love with Karl Van Noy and the Lions are prepared to offer him 3 years and $36M.

The Patriots and Jaimie Collins are all sugar and spice.

Once the name JC Jackson was leaked in that trade deal with the Raven, BB's phone hasn't stopped ringing. There are a lot of teams who are willing to give up picks and one is supposedly Miami who is willing to talk a high one. I don't think BB is going to trade him unless the other team gets really foolish.

The Titans refused to commit anything about Tannehill. It appears that Vrabel will wait until after the Pats and Brady talk. Tennessee is ready to go all-in on Brady with a 3 year $99M guaranteed deal. That sounds a bit over the top, but the Raiders have supposedly said that two years and $80M would not be out of their range.

This is a fact according to Early Edition tonight. The Patriots have found a college QB that BB and JM both really like. Jordan Love of Utah St. The Patriots and Love met for over an hour on Monday afternoon.

Love is 6'4" 225

Had a bad 2019 with 20 TDs and 17 INTs
Was spectacular in 2018 with 32 TDs and 5 INTs. QB Rating was 158.
