They even let Murphy walk, who I dont love, but is absolutely one of, if not, their best hitter, the way the team is constructed today

For what? 36 million? Nothing these days

Agreed. The Mets should be loading up to contend while they have all this pitching under control.

If they keep Miller, they are kinda following the Royals blueprint. Just need the starting staff to get through the 6th inning with a lead...

Would Gardner and Miller land them a young, controllable SP?

If Chapman gets suspended 46 or more games he won't be a free agent after next year. Odd scenario that might actually benefit the Yankees.

Love this trade. We gave away nothing for him. This will be the best bullpen in baseball. Yankees have a lot of starters that only go 6 innings so this is perfect. We just made this into a 6th inning game. Lights out in the bullpen.

not even they signed 2 guys that will make almost the same as Murphy. I didn't understand what the Mets did.

I love it! The Dodgers are absolutely tanking in the off-season. There has to be some major dysfunction in the Dodger front office. They run the risk of being worse than last year and not even contending.

Neil Walker hit 23 HR's in 2014 and slipped to just 16 this past season but he has more power than Murphy. Nobody should be crying for the Mets....they are fairly similar players. Except, like I said, Walker has a little pop in his bat.

I figured they would go all out to keep Greinke, dump Puig and get a legit closer and another solid starter. But nothing, and if anything, Puig is going to be a cancer in the clubhouse next year. I kind of wonder if Puig staying put was one of the reasons Greinke left....heard there was no love lost between those two.

I was surprised about Greinke at first but after thinking about it for a little bit.....he's always been about himself and getting the most $....It may have played a part but I think he still would have gone for the $, even if he had assurances the team was going to deal Puig.

They would need to part with their best prospects in a deal like that. The Marlins aren't the kind of team to take on $24m/year that would be coming to Gardner and Miller.

well, every so often the marlins make a run til june, like the Reyes and Buerhle signings. You figure they get a pretty big haul at the deadline flipping those two.

The thing about the Marlins is that they are looking for players to win now, this isnt their 200th rebuild, so gardner and Miller do make some sense.......But no doubt it will take a big time prospect at least

I would think that Severino would have to be included.

You say this like it is a bad thing... Just like being with the Dodgers recently, he is once again has a shot to make the postseason. Once you are in the playoffs, anything can and does happen. He can be a very valuable component of an already strong team.

Good point, but the Marlins can just do better in a Fernandez trade. Instead of getting a couple of chips that they can flip, they can get actual building-block type guys for him. That's what you need when you trade a true #1 starter like him.
