I dont get this.

What he is saying is -- he won't put up numbers like the other guys, because he will be the 3rd or 4th option in Detroit. As long as Calvin is on the team -- he will never be a #1 like Watkins and Benjamin are already or #2 like Evans, OBJ (though he was the #1 after Cruz went down) and Cooks.

Detroit has Calvin and Tate for the next 4 years. So where do you see Ebron in the pecking order? IMO -- you don't spend a top 10 pick on a player to be your 3rd or 4th option.

I understand what you were saying but I dont understand why you guys think nobody else will get touches.

Once Stafford completely matures in 2020 I feel he finally will distribute touches properly as most good QBs do. They find the hot hand for the day and exploit it. Then go elsewhere when defense adjusts. Matt does not yet. CJ then Tate Cj Cj Tate force to CJ .... Take a sack(which I like) then find Fuller, Ross or Ebron then repeat the process. I really hope the best QB I have seen in a Lions uniform matures to the QB I see about every 5 games.

It isn't that no one else will get touches. It is that Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate will always get there touches. The RB's will also get their catches. What is left over will be split between Ebron and the other TE's, as well as whoever the 3rd WR is.

I know you think everyone just hates Ebron, but like gandy said -- the fans would have bitched, even if it was a WR that was drafted. Not as loudly, but you still would have heard bitching. The fact Detroit's TE group (which includes two 1st round picks in the last 6 years) finished 30th in the NFL in production -- which only added fuel to the fire.

I actually think being drafted by Detroit hurts Ebron. He'd get a lot more targets and a lot more playing time on a team that actually needed a receiving option.

I think everyone gets less touches. We are a defensive team now. We are the Ravens carbon copy to an extent.

Ya, you can't trade UP for a 3rd WR. Even Millen didn't do that.

I dont think Tate had over 75 yards in any game CJ caught a pass (didnt look, maybe he had an 80 in there, know his 100 yard games were when CJ was out or a decoy). Staff doesnt spread it around much, imo.

I would have picked up a megaphone for ultimate loudness.

Confusing statements to say the least. Last year is about the only year where Staff didn't seem to spread it around as much. But when Linehan was around, errybody was getting the rock. Pettigrew and the RBs had tons of catches. Only the guys that sucked didnt get the ball. Im assuming since Ross and whoever else we're talking about didnt have 50 catches, thats Stafford's fault?

And now Stafford locks onto Tate too? Lol. Is he supposed to just not target anyone? Lol. I've seen where he locks on sometimes but not at the extreme you guys speak of. Lol.

There's only a handful of QBs in the league that have the ability and the real opportunity to really spread the ball around. Obviously, your #1 and #2 WRs are supposed to get the rock the most. And then there's this "third" option we speak of that should get a decent amount of touches. Then the RBs (if they can even catch), followed by the occasional touches from the rest of the bunch.

Could someone give me a example or breakdown of exactly how many touches each player should have at their respective position? I need a chart to compare to what the Lions do.

Did Suh set the standard for QBs? Lol

There is no set chart to compare to. Every offense is different. Some run the ball more. Some throw the ball more. Some like throwing to TE's alot. Some like throwing it to RB's alot. Some spread the ball all over.

Detroit has an offense with the best WR in football -- he is going to get more touches than anyone. They signed Tate to a big contract and he went to the pro bowl in his 1st year -- he is going to get a ton of touches. Detroit's offense before Lombardi, loved using the RB's in the passing game -- Lombardi came from a team who used the RB's even more in the passing game -- So they are going to get a ton of touches between the group (Bush, Bell, Riddick had like 110 catches last year)

When you take into consideration Detroit threw the ball less last year than they have in Stafford career -- it limits the amount of opportunities even more. This is why I said, I would love to see Ebron with 80+ catches and 1000+ yards, but it won't happen during his 1st contract. Maybe when Calvin is gone or if we trade for Brees or Manning.

Mayhew has had one great year of drafting one absolutely horrible year and several average years. Hes definitely right around 20 I would say. This is the same front office that screwed the pooch on suh.

I was not being extreme LS1...even with Linehan he forced shit to CJ when others are open. IMO once he starts going to a open guy that gets a ya first down and moves the chains, instead trying to force deeper routes that are covered... I want to love Stafford so bad.

He teases me with a great game and the reverts back to bad habits. Some will say it is just him needing to mature or develop. I will always doubt him until I see a string of games or seasons. Not sure he develops fully, because of those habits. Just because he is the best QB of my Lions fandom does not mean I have to like his game.

What I don't get is the Stafford lovers accept anything as long as it's a win and give him the most credit in a victory, yet same people say Suh does not get credit for the defense and not worth 5-6 victories???
Which is why my stance is team sport and team win or loss. They contribute is all, maybe more than some. I will never give credit to just one player.

Im a stafford lover and admit hes still nowhere near his potential. At the same time though many stafford haters are not taking into consideration how difficult it is to develop into a stud qb. Staff is still young and imo made very necessary strides last season with one of the worst offensive lines in football coupled with a new offensive coordinator. He has definitely showed flashes of eliteness (is that a word) so I can see how frustrating it is as a fan.

suh definitely transformed that defense into a stud unit. Clearly the mvp of defense and probably the team last year. One could argue golden tate. Most of the stafford lovers would argue the lions could do no wrong which is why they are all trying to minimize now how important suh was to the defense.

The way CJ and Tate are covered because of defenses rolling coverage. Tells me that either are other options suck and get no separation. Stafford does not see the open guy if they don't suck. Lombardi completely sucks and has no clue on devising a game plan to exploit matchups. The QB coach and other coaches suck at making Stafford aware of possible exploitation.

Hell Maybe its a mix of all or they all suck and in some guys around around here words " we are doomed". I would suspect what ever the issue is Stafford carries no fault at all in many end Ed here.
