Wait? Peyton doesn't play all 22 positions? He plays special teams though right?

yea, i can't even put him top 5

1) Montana
2) Unitas
3) Star
4) Brady
5) Graham

It is so hard to rate players from different eras due to how much more pass oriented the league has become. I have no problem with your list but Brady and Manning should be pretty close to each other imo. Brady has the rings, manning has those stats.

I'm also not a big believer in the "greatest ever" labels and arguments. I agree that winning championships is important but it cannot be the only or even primary criteria. It is the argument that always goes against Dan Marino (no rings) and others who "only" have 1 ring. Honestly, would you put Terry Bradshaw ahead of Peyton, Favre, Marino, Young, etc? Or for that matter, Jim Plunkett? I do agree that Montana and Brady deserve their due recognition as all-time greats but to just dismiss Peyton is wrong. The man is one of the best ever at the position, that should be enough.

Manning's stats are not that much better than Bardy's

Bradshaw is in my top 10 all time, Marino doesn't even crack the list.

What stats?

Brady:
Regular season:
136-40(.773) average game - 21.4/33.6 253 1.89 TD .69 INT
Post season:
17-7 (.708) average game - 23/37 248 1.75 TD .91 INT

Peyton:
Regular season:
154-69(.691) average game - 22.6/34.7 265 1.95 TD .93 INT
Post season:
9-11 (.450) average game - 24/38 283 1.6TD 1.05 INT

These do not factor in the first two games of this season because I have not redone the numbers, but the numbers are pretty damn near identical. Peyton has played with much better offensive talent for the bulk of his career and done so in a dome, and even still the numbers are very similar.

i like winners, not stat padders....you'll survive.

Teams win in football, not solely QBs. How many HOFers did Bradshaw have on his teams? What about Marino?

Can I ask why Marino is rated so poorly? I'm fine with rating Bradshaw fairly high, don't get me wrong but Marino was one of the best "pure passers" ever. He had average receivers, no running game and wasn't very mobile yet he consistently kept his teams competitive and put up great numbers. Defenses had only one thing to stop and still had trouble stopping it. I just don't think a lack of play-off success should dismiss this guy so easily. Most play-off teams had superior defenses so Miami was pretty easy to stop in those days.
Bradshaw, on the other hand, had one of the greatest defenses ever, a great running game and very good receivers. Like I've said before, it's a team game.

The Broncos are very good but its about winning the Super Bowl.

Right, they are at the Yankee level, where a non championship is a seasonal bust... When you are that good the regular season means nothing... Unfortunately i do not believe the Broncos will win the Super Bowl...

i say most overrated because many say he is the best ever and i just don't agree with that for the obvious reason that i mentioned and others here have mentioned. Is he great yes, is the the best ever hell no.

I think GOAT (imo one of the most subjective topics on this board) is one end of the spectrum and your "most overrated" is the other end of it.

Mcro doesn't think Marino is top 10 alltime?

If someone would post some concrete criteria, maybe these QB rankings would have more than just opinion...Marino imo is probably the best passer the game has ever seen.

Agreed. Bradshaw was a great QB, but could you imagine how much even more dominant those '70s Steelers teams would have been had Bradshaw thrown the ball like Marino did. On the other hand, I don't think that those '80s Dolphins teams would have been nearly as good as they were with a QB who threw more like Bradshaw than Marino.

This is just me, but I look at it this way; if all of those players were in a pool to be drafted, in what order would you draft them? I think anyone who would take Bradshaw over Marino would be making a huge mistake.

Bradshaw probably doesn't take a back seat to many QBs when it comes to throwing the ball, but in this case (vs Marino) I think he does.

That said...the '74 & '75 SB teams were carried by the DEF...no question. By the '78 & '79 years, the DEF was still good, but long in the tooth...those SBs were more on the arm of Bradshaw...it does help to have 2 HOF WRs that could make the tough catches (Stallworth) over the middle, and the acrobatic catches (Swann).

Because Marino's selfish attitude hurt his team, and i believe a big reason why he never won a SB. Like i said earlier i'm all about winning and i cann't say he was one of the best ever while never accomplishing the only goal for a player.
