Dude is a legend, and was years ahead of his time when he played, but he is annoying as hell. Just fade to black already. Everytime he pipes up, it's some asinine comment. Let it go Gale...die gracefully.

Brian, I really have no idea why you deliberately misspell words in your posts as well as make outlandish claims. Although I agree with you in this thread, your posts are just irritating to read.

I only liked Gale Sayers for his speed in Madden '94. On a side note, enjoy tonights game. It should be fun for you guys! Just don't kill Ben. Watching him dodge DLs and LBs is Steelers fans only offensive entertainment.

Don't forget corners and safeties, too.

Gale is my 2nd favorite Bear , only behind 51. The guy would have set records, nobody would match had he stayed healthy. A cheap shot ended his career.
I watched him play. And if given the choice I'd take Gale over Walter any day.
Not knocking anything Walter has done for this franchise.
But Gale played behind a less O-line than Walter had. And was the O.
I'll listen to anything he has to say. Be it wrong or right. Just think he earned the right to speak his peace

There's one of these threads every other year or so on any given Bears message board.

Yes, we're all tired of him.

He's an asshole, and always has been.

.. NO ONE, played with less than Walter had. Especially at offensive line. No one was more the "offense" for the Bears than Payton was.

Walter played on the worst Bears teams in history in the 70's. With the WORST O-lines in history. If he had played in Dallas, he might have rushed for 20,000 yards.

Gale was great, but give me the guy who moves the chains any day over the home run hitter.

Obviously you never saw Gale. Runnining behind inept O-lines and still being the focal point of the O.
Our O in those days were Gale right, Gale left, Gale where ever you want to go.
Again I'm not discarding anything Walter has done. But if I had my choice of the 2. I'd take Gale. In a heartbeat.

Sounds like Walters Bears.

Walter left
Walter right
Walter up the middle...........those o-lines in the 70s and early 80s until 83 2 were atrocious. So Gale and Walter had equally as bad of o-lines........

And it was EXACTLY the same with Walter. And for FAR longer.

The guy was a machine, who never missed a game. Aside from one, where the Bears wanted to lose vs Pittsburgh to gain the first pick of the draft. Even though he dressed.

People always LOOOOOVE the story about the guy who "WOULD HAVE BROKE SO MANY RECORDS"... "HE WOULD HAVE HIT SOOO MANY HOME RUNS"... "THAT BAND WOULD HAVE CHANGED MUSIC!"... "THAT COMEDIAN WOULD HAVE BECOME A LEGEND!"... "THAT ACTOR WAS SO TALENTED!".

In reality, it's all overblown. Gale played 5 full seasons, and rushed for 4900 yards. The average career for a running back of his caliber extends to roughly 28-30. He was 26 when he played his last full season.

Please... tell me what record he would have even COME CLOSE to "SHATTERING". He wouldn't have even touched Jim Brown's record, more or less STILL hold "every record" as he claims.

The guy was unbelievable, but is his legend is overstated because his career ended early. And plus, people love to hold the contrarian view. Which is "I'm telling you man. Gale was better than Walter." It's simply not true.

THIS

The guy was Jamal Charles or LeSean McCoy. He was arguably the best of his time, but nobody knows whether he would have put up legendary numbers. If McCoy blew out his knee tomorrow, people would say the same shit, and vastly overstate his legend.

He's not Payton or Barry Sanders.

Sayers played in pretty much the same era as OJ Simpson, and his numbers don't even compare to his. I'm sorry, he was great, but the pompous ass talked up his legend so much that people actually buy into it.

I never seen Gale play, but he def was great, but to warrant better than Walter...........NO!

There are only 3 rbs to ever grace the top 3 in the NFL..................Payton,Brown and Sanders(in no particular order),then there are the rest.............

To me,Walter is the best. And to be the best, you have to do everything even without the football........Walter did that:running-recieving-blocking(outstanding blocker btw) and passing-plus a few other little things.

I never listen to the score or any Chicago sports outlet to listen to what gale has to say.......So I can`t comment.
