There is rumors here in Lincoln that we are looking at Mack Brown...
I don't like the idea though...The guy is the current HC @ Texas...A program that gets their pick of the litter when it comes to recruiting. He is surrounded with a successful atmosphere and he can't get the job done. How the hell is he going to be successful in Nebraska without those perks? Nebraska has top facilities, and everything a football program needs to be successful. We just live in no mans land. That's our problem, recruiting....Mack Brown is terrible at X's and O's. I also don't know how well of a 'recruiter' he is, he fucking coached Texas, not hard to recruit there.
Is Nebraska Still considered a Major, Major since Pelini took over and ruined them on the field
Sucks that this is the perception. If anyone "ruined" this program up until this point, it's steve peterson and Harvey Perlman: Our former AD (steve) and current Chancellor (harvey).
Not going to happen too much bad blood between Nebraska and Texas as it is. There is no way Nebraska is going to stomach what amounts to a Texas cast off pride will not let them do it.
you think?
auburn and alabama have shared coaches in the past. auburn and georgia too.
Dude, Mack Brown went 11-1 at UNfreakinC and ended with a #4 ranking before Texas came along and grabbed him. If he can win at a freakin basketball school, he can win at NU. Forget about the Osborne days, those are never, never coming back, unless the B1G allows the recruiting of illiterate partial qualifiers who can't qualify at any school in the country academically. That's what helped NU dominate back in the day taking all of those gifted, fast and athletic retards who were too stupid to qualify academically at any other major program.
Mack is a thousand times better than Bo Pelini.....
It would be career suicide for our new AD to hire Mack Brown. I don't need to explain myself.
what if he happened to bring the same success to nebraska as he did at texas? say he coaches for 12 seasons, wins 3 or 4 conference titles, a national title, and plays for another.
wouldn't that be the best run nebraska has had (by far) since the mid 90s?
mack brown can coach. mack brown can recruit. a few of his highly touted quarterbacks haven't developed. maybe that's on him, maybe that's on his staff, maybe it was just the players didn't pan out. if they had, texas would still be competing for conference championships (hell, they kinda close to winning one this year)

so he can't win at Texas because?..............
MACK did win at Texas.
He rattled off a run from 1999-2009 that was frankly spectacular.
Lets stop acting like he was a buffoon who did not win anything.
He won 10 games and a bowl every season. He played for 2 titles and was in the mix for another 2 chances (01, 08) but missed out on BCS heartbreak tiebreaker type stuff.
Mack would be perfect for Nebraska and the Big 10.
He is a wholesome guy that would resonate with the relatively polite and respectful fans.
Mack can recruit his ass off anywhere period even at the North Pole.
He is gifted at that part of the job.
Texas was not some easy 5 star recruiting spot before he got there.....It was good but not the machine it became under Brown.
Mack made Texas recruiting so prevalent by force of personality.
In some ways he is a victim of his own recruiting success.
Mack would almost overnight dramatically improve the Husker recruiting.
If Nebraska can get him some quality Xs and Os assistants, the marriage would be quite successful.
so he can't win at Texas because?..............
this makes absolutely no sense at all.....why would either party take this? Mack probably looks to make bank with retirement, maybe get an easy gig on the Longhorn Network/ESPN/FOX SPORTS etc.
why would Nebraska go after an old coach? Mack would be on a quick slope downward to retirement if he were to take another coaching job.
Mack Brown and Nick Saban are the same age
Saban - born on Halloween, 1951
Mack Brown - born Aug 27, 1951
