You could always consider switching to a team/sport that isn't run by a tightfisted miser. I know it seems hard, but for inspiration, look at Bizz. I'm not saying he roots for everyone, just that if all 30 teams play one night, the winners will include 15 of his favorite teams.

Haters gonna hate. Especially Ottawa fans, lol. :lm:

Nah, I'm with him. Chara's scary good and will likely remain so, but he has no upside whatsoever. He's not getting any better, and odds are good (though not 100%) that he gets worse. He's CERTAINLY a contract that would make a GM sit up and notice, but I'd put him around 20-25 rather than top 10. ELCs + RFA years are just so valuable to teams. Admittedly maybe not as much so on the RFA point if teams start actually using offer sheets more, but they won't and we all know it, and even if they do, you still get SOME value back when they leave. Maybe not what they are worth, but more than Parise and Suter netted the Devils and the Preds.

What I found interesting is that Johan Franzen is not listed, he should at least be in the "should be but as of yet isn't a franchise player", unless I missed him.

Fucker has a ton of potential when he feels like playing (or get's pissed off), maybe it's just me being a homer. Or because of the stupid contract he's on they didn't consider him.

I understand why they did it. However, there could be consequences down the line. The Flyers better get Giroux signed before the end of his current contract. Some team, probably not the Predators might do the same thing to them. Detroit is going to have a HUGE need at Center in a couple of years.

Fortunatley, GMs with steel testicles and a blank paycheck dont let their franchise players hit FA. :)

Franzen will turn 33 in December. How much potential does he really have at this point?

It takes two to make a deal. The Canadiens could definately use a Center. Plekanec isn't getting any younger & Galchenyuk is just a kid. Two years from now bringing Giroux home might make sense. Quebec is the wildcard. If they get a franchise all bets are off.:D:

Giroux is from Ontario, your point is invalid :)

Giroux would never push Tyler Bozak off that number #1 Center spot on the Leafs...
