Andre Smith - Cincinnati Bengals - 2012 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

Bengals running backs are averaging 5.5 yards per carry behind RT Andre Smith.
Look no further than Smith for BenJarvus Green-Ellis' three-game renaissance as a top-three fantasy back. Pro Football Focus rates Smith as the best right tackle in football at the three-quarter season mark. The No. 6 overall pick in the 2009 draft has turned his career around in a contract year. Among impending free agents, Rotoworld's Nick Mensio ranks Smith behind only Broncos LT Ryan Clady.

No, he won't....I hope MB has enough sense to lock him up for a long time...he always had the talent to dominate, just needed consistent good health....

He'll be with a different club next year. Brown won't franchise a right tackle.

I've been saying this since they didn't pick up the option.... He's as good as gone.

Wow. Good for him. I know he's been playing very well, but to be rated #1 by anyone is pretty unbelievable.

Actually he was pretty good last year, too. They really need him going forward, so they can address other problem positions such as safety, corner, and linebacker.

yea...speaking of corner.....what's the skinny on Dre?

right after he 1st got on the field, I saw that guy jump on a pile way after the whistle.....not what his injury prone ass should be doing in my guesstamation.

just wonder if folks consider him a bust or what

He looks pretty stiff out there.... I suppose it's nice to have a tall corner against all these tall receivers, but when he has been out there he hasn't looked very athletic.

That was the knock on him coming out, we wasn't really athletic and a little stiff. It's the reason Gilmore ended up jumping him.

I don't see MB paying Smith the money he'll be looking for. He'll go somewhere else and become all-pro before ya know it.

Doesn't Mike Brown have to spend money now? Doesn't the mandate kick in? He's got to put that $$$ somewhere...Smith is an obvious choice to spend some of the dough that he's got to invest anyway under new CBA. I think he's a Bengal in 2013.

I'm not so sure about this salary cap thing saving us much. but I guess Smith would be a candidate.

I think we have to at least spend to 90% of the salary cap next season.

if the salary cap is still 120 million, that means brown only has to spend 108 million, he can still idle at 12 million in cap space. If, according to the July article on nfl.com the bengals are 16 million, under, it appears we can expect 4 million to get distributed to a player or two (perhaps Smith)
