I always wondered how they handled guarenteed money and why some teams were so bashful about it. Escrow account the moment they put pen to paper. Makes sense.

Broncos have some of the same issue and why they don't hand out big signing bonuses usually. It does help keep them out of trouble contract wise but it does limit some as those players are looking for the huge signing bonus to make it work. This is where the top Owners salary wise do have a big time advantage in putting that extra $60 million away is no big deal as it is just moving it from one bank account to that of the league. Others that $60 million is about all the spendable money they actually have over the next few years.

They've never had the big cash. It's part of the reason many teams take full advantage by signing their better players and have for the last 15 years.

Hudson, Williams and Smith were quality signings.

I knew Ken Norton was gonna nab one of Seattle's linebackers! Malcolm did a great job for us wish him well...

I'm a little surprised they went after Smith to be honest because LB is one of our few strengths with Mack, Moore, and Burris.

Norton knows the value of a good line-backer... He's worked with Smith and likes him.. I can guarantee he was a big part of that decision... You got a good player... His pick 6 in the SuperBowl was something we won't ever forget in Seattle...

I was really hoping Atlanta would snag up Malcolm Smith because of the Quinn connection. I'm still kind of disappointed.

Dude you need a better source. PFT is a lawyer who relays news....not a football guy. It's bassically the TMZ of the NFL.

Nose tackle in a 3-4. He is a run stuffer & nothing else. Don't get me wrong, he is a very good run stuffing NT, but you don't pay a part time player $6 mil AAV. He only plays 1/3 of the snaps on defense & only has 2 sacks in 5 season as a starter.

A clear overpay.

I think rotoworld.com tends to be pretty accurate.

The Raiders had a lot of cap space and they needed to make an upgrade at DT.

They did.

Here's the catch though, Oakland has to overpay to get above 89% of the cap being spent. Really shitty situation if you are Oakland.
