not me, but this guy...taking into account the NFL magic number of 100 TD's usually = canton.

9,453 career rushing yards
1,520 receiving yards
10,973 yards from scrimmage
4.3 per carry
100 rushing TD's
12 receiving TD's
(112 total TD's)
Led the NFL once in yards, twice in rushing TD's

Did he lead the NFL in total yards from scrimmage, or rushing yards? How many seasons did he play? How many all pros? Did he have much playoff success? Win any awards worth mentioning (MVP, offensive player of the year, rookie of the year, etc.).

Without content hard to make a judgment. An example is that of did this player play before they switched to the 16 game system? What did he do compared to his contemporaries of the time? I mean comparing somebody of 30 years ago to what players are doing today is 2 very different ball games. Heck even 10 years ago since we are talking RB's here having a 1000 yard rusher was more the norm. Over half the teams in the league had a 1000 yard rusher just 10 years ago. This past year only 12 RB's made that number. So it would be much more impressive for a player at that position to do it today compared to just 10 years ago.

Pro bowler means nothing to me, that's a popularity contest. I'm more interested in all pros. I'm guessing he was first team all pro the year he won MVP, did he finish as an all pro any other season?

That's why I asked for awards and all pro nominations. The game varies so much era to era that a straight up numbers comparison is impossible.

He was an All-Pro once in his career I think in 2005 and 2nd team All-Pro in 2004. MVP in 2005. Rushing leader once. Essentially 2005 he won just about every award a RB can.

He's a borderline case for sure. I'd lean no, but I'd listen to a case for him.

Touchdowns though for the most part vary. I mean he went from 27 touchdowns in 2005 to 7 the next year. His one great season or really 3 great season run to me is not enough. If Terrell Davis cannot get in on a great 3-year run (his was better than Alexander's) then I can't see SA getting in either.

Davis was WAY better in the playoffs, too. In 9 playoff games, Alexander only rushed for 100 yards twice. Davis did it 7 times in 8 games. Davis also beats him in touchdowns (12 to 8), total yards (1,140 to 564), and yards per carry (5.59 to 3.34).

Longevity seems to matter more than ever to voters. Back in the day he would be an instant HOF player just for having his 2005 magical season alone. Now adays though they would rather see 8 years of above average play than that of 3-5 years of incredible play. My guess is he actually does eventually get in. The raw numbers are up there with most who have gotten in. I don't think he gets in 1st ballot though.

I voted yes, but you are going to have to keep it up for at least another seven years. Who knows what this place will be like by then. Maybe HOFs will be fans that pussyfoot along the borders of homerism instead of jumping right into the fray.

Fuck Alexander. if Marshawn Lynch had had Alexander's offensive line, Lynch would have had three MVPs and a couple of 2000 yard rushing seasons.
