Yeah, AI.

Postseason success is the start of this debate and ends it before it can really get going, IMO.

I haven't seen many players that could single handedly put a team on his back, Iverson could.

IMO....Iverson had the better overall career, but I think T-Mac was better at his peak. Dude could do it all..

At their peak seasons, I'd probably say McGrady.

McGrady's 2002-2003 win shares and PER were both better than anything AI ever put up for starters.

T-MAC at his peak was one of the best players of all time.

His peak was forgotten because injuries and bad luck prevented team success.

He just could never stay healthy once he got a team around him.

Or Yao Ming couldn't stay healthy once T-Mac was healthy.

McGrady's peak years were some of the all time greatest individual seasons we have seen.

TMAC had the better peak.

Iverson might be the best scorer of all-time, and he was only 6 feet tall. I don't think there is any question AI had a better peak and he carried his team to the Finals.

t-Mac was a very exciting player to watch and could ball with the best of him, but Iverson was electric.

I sat courtside once during a Sixer game @ Portland and had the pleasure of watching Iverson. Hell I was taller than him, but man could he go into the land-o-trees anytime and get to the rim. He was amazing to see play.

Guy had "bird legs", but could fly.

Iverson had 10 seasons where he averaged 26+ PPG, and 10 seasons of 2+ Steals per

McGrady only had 4 seasons of 26+ PPG, McGrady never averaged over 2 steals

These two players aren't even comparable. Iverson by a mile

Tmac had 2 straight scoring titles, had amazing ball handling skills and was a great playmaker for his size, could literally score from anywhere and he wasn't a great defender...but he was decent....McGrady was an all around player. I can see why people are saying Iverson but it's not a landslide like some people think.

That's fine if you don't think it's a landslide. I don't think it's a landslide either, but you do agree that AI at his peak was better than Tmac at his peak, right?

Great, but this thread is comparing their 'peaks,' not their overall primes.

I'm not sure Iverson's best season (regular season, at least) was as good as McGrady's 2002-2003. McGrady's win shares, WAR and PER for instance were all better that season than anything Iverson ever put up by a decent margin.

If TMac had stayed healthy, it would have been him.

But he didn't and it's definitely Iverson.

And again, I'll take Iverson

Better player, period.

In their single best seasons, the metrics (which aren't perfect, but are more objective than our personal opinions) would say otherwise.
