THIS is where the tackle starts. This is where Roach plants his right foot to change direction from east/west to north/south and launch himself into a ball carrier that is already in a clear downward slide. The change of direction is plain as day in pics #1 and #2. Roach is pointed towards the camera in pics #1 and 2. He is pointed towards the ball carrier in pic #3.
The play is considered dead and the ball is to be spotted where the slide began (pic #1), not where Roach blasts him in the side of the head with the crown of his helmet. His actions were not meant to stop the ball carrier. They were clearly meant to inflict damage.
