Agreed but they Almost blow the roof off of Scotiabank Centre, My hatred for everything Mapleleaf made it hard to type that, when he came out

Is it me or does anyone else here think the most realistic person for Wildcard is MJF?

That was so muted

I’m not sure it would hit the top 10, but I’d have to think about it

I think he might return if they do another Dynamite battle royal to get his ring back.

My guess is Samoa Joe. I feel like whoever wins the Ladder Match is likely losing when they challenge for the title. So its probably not gonna be MJF, who I feel will definitely win the title if/when he comes back. Now maybe they do a longer build to his title shot, but in the past, winners of the casino matches typically get their shot pretty quickly. I don't think its the best look to go from Punk to Mox to Punk and then to MJF at say, Grand Slam. You're bouncing your main title around a lot in a month's time.

Plus, if Punk wins again (likely imo), and Joe wins the ladder match, that's a quick feud to heat up given their history. A nice match to build up to (just a couple of weeks) to Grand Slam. Punk wins and you can close the show with MJF returning in his hometown to start the feud with Punk.

He had a back injury that stalled his and HOB's progress. He's also now going thru some mental health issues and appears to be taking time off.

PPV was ok. The AEW Tag Match stole the show. That was a great match. Trios Title match, Hobbs/Stark and the Women's title matches were fine and Mox/Punk the match itself was pretty decent as well.

But I'm just not a fan of the pathway they took to get the title on Punk and bringing MJF back the way they did. The last couple of weeks with Mox/Punk was messy as hell. It was too rushed. And to put the title back on Punk this quick just makes it feel useless. I'm fine putting it back on him, but it was too quickly. And the whole masked MJF bit felt a little too cute. There was really no one else it could be so that took a lot of the intrigue out of it for me (not to mention the interference completely killed what was shaping up to be a good ladder match). I thought the voicemail and the ROH Punk clip was a nice touch, but I just don't think that whole angle hit as hard as it could. Instead of a home run, it was more like a double off the wall. Maybe if they Mox/Punk lead up wasn't so sloppy, the MJF payoff would have been better.

BTW, if any of you are checking out the post show media scrum, it's...something. It's either the workiest shoot ever or the shootiest shoot of all time. Either way, its very uncomfortable. Punk went in HARD on Colt Cabana (used his real name), the EVPs, and Hangman. Swerve went in on some topics as well. Like if Tony Khan thinks this is good, I'm gonna have to disagree. This stuff isn't fun

If he’s truly dealing with mental health issues I wonder if he requested his release not just to go back to WWE because apparently Triple H is the only one who’s booked him well(Vince and Tony did not) but because his wife is there and that may help him certain times when he’s struggling.

I thought Tony was booking him well until the injury issues started coming up. I think his back issue started flaring up around the same time Death Triangle kept getting hurt. That's when his booking momentum halted because TK just put a pause on that program instead of pivoting to something different. But its not like Black could have worked much anyway given his injury. The gist I get from the pieces of information here or there (and there's no definitive source yet, its all pieces) is that Black's back was really fucked up for awhile to where he thought he was gonna have to quit wrestling period. That really messed up his mental health and he spiraled. He requested his release to sort things out, but AEW denied it. They have since worked together to help Black out. His back is doing better now and it appears they are gonna give him time off (not released, just a leave) for anything else he needs.

You could still have featured Black more prominently even if he’s not wrestling. I think one of the main problems Tony Khan has is if someone can’t wrestle and won’t be able to give him a classic wrestling match he kind of forgets about them and pushes them to the side. We just saw that with Wardlow where he’s stated he injured himself in that MJF match and instead of keeping him hot and having him on TV consistently while he recovered from his injury, he just was pretty much nonexistent to the point where his huge momentum cooled off. It doesn’t help that AEW tries to fit 3 1/2 hours of content into a 2 hour show every Wednesday but I believe a lot of times Tony books the show more as a fan and what he would’ve loved to see back when he was young and less of a businessman who’s running a company,

Oh and one last thing, I still hate that freaking face heel tunnel AEW stupidly took from impact, the moment Luchasarus came out of that damn tunnel you knew what was up and that he was back to being heel instead of playing nice with JB like he had been these past few weeks.

Either this is a shoot, or Tony’s idea of a good angle is to make people think he’s a fucking terrible boss who’s entire company is in disarray because he can’t keep anyone under control, either is not good look.

I truly feel like his mindset especially lately has been him doing things he thinks would be cool for fans to see and what would’ve popped him when he was younger instead of doing things that are actually good for his business.

Punk’s entire pipe bomb promo in WWE and then all of the worked shoot stuff afterwards with Cena, HHH, Rock, etc came across like someone who was fed up with being mistreated but never once did you get the feeling like the wrestlers were going to fight each other because everyone fucking hated each other and Vince didn’t know what the hell to do.

Like Punk just fucking buried Colt Cabana and there’s no receipt because he’s not gonna work with him, Colt will never be in the ring with Punk and so what good does that do? If it’s a shoot Punk looks like a giant asshole, and if it was a work Cabana looks like a fucking idiot for agreeing to something like that. How does Colt Cabana show up for work after that and then just do nothing? I seriously don’t get it.

They should’ve just kept Luchasaurus heel and have Jungle Boy slay him to finally get his hands on Christian.

Got to be a shoot. I don’t see how this would be an angle since they’ve never mentioned these things on television that I remember. Whether you hate people or not, you shouldn’t be publicly burying them. He comes across as an unprofessional dick in this sense.
