To what ? Cousins is going to get more than 71 million guaranteed and he's not as good . He's just not. There's no QB tangible measurement that would favor him over Smith . I know you love Kirk probably but you guys are going to be better with Alex .
I find it funny when people think I'm a Redskins fan due to being a Capitals fan......I managed to jump off of that ship long ago and the people who are still on it are a little challenged imo

In any case you don't understand how good Fuller is, do you?

I think he just overrates Smith straight up.

For real how is Smuyhva downgrade ? Let's talk actual performance here and jot some mythical "potential " . It's not close man. It just isn't

Smith as KCs starter:

232 YPG, 1.34 TD/g, 65.1%, 94.8 rating, 6.31 NY/A, 6.5 ANY/A

Cousins as WAS starter

275 YPG, 1.69 TD/g, 67%, 97.5 rating, 7 NY/A, 7 ANY/A

Smith - holds his team back by being a game manager and is 34 years old and likely to start declining

Cousins - has more upside, is 29, and could still improve

You're right its not close though.

That seems to be part of the equation as well.

Personally, I think Cousins is a good quarterback and I would probably take him over Smith by a hair. But the way the Skins have handled this whole thing, from the start of Kirk's time in DC to the very end with this trade, is absolutely classic and the fact he thinks it wasn't a complete fleecing is pretty funny

If Smith performed like he did in 2017 every year and this deal wouldn't be that bad... then you see the other 12 years in his career and go ehhhhh. The Skins gave up an ascending maybe star CB and a 3rd for a 34 YO QB off a spike year. I can't believe this.

Last time Andy Reid pushed out a veteran QB it was to the Redskins.

Hopefully this works out better for both parties than McNabb and Kolb

I have tweeted maybe 7 times in my life and none of them football (sometimes for discounts on things), but Fulbright blocked me. Never replied to him, tweeted him, or anything. Geez.

You're right its not close though.

It's a spike year for Smith, but this year it was 269 yards per game, 1.73 TDs, 67+%, etc. So while I don't expect Smith to repeat and I do expect Cousins to produce elsewhere, I don't think the stats will be those averages. I think Smith will average more than his overall average, maybe due to garbage time.

I kept saying it on the Redskin board and they got pissed at me and banned me so I’ll say it here. You can throw for 4500-5000 yards all you want but if you can’t win games or be seen as a leader on and off the field, you ain’t sticking around too long. Smith led the Chiefs to be contenders again. No surprise the Redskins have moved past Kirk Cousins. Cousins can’t even lead the Redskins to a winning record over three years. With that said, the Redskins didn’t help Cousins much either. No running game, bad o-line with no depth, WRs can’t catch the ball, defense sucks against the run. Just bad all around.
Well.if Washington has those weaknesses good luck with Alex Smith. Alex is a good QB but he doesnt elevate the play of those around him

Chiefs fleeced them. They get to move on to the kid they drafted seamlessly, got a draft pick, and picked up a legit starter DB in Kendall Fuller who is still developing and could be a pro bowl guy one day. All this for a 34 year old QB who at best is slightly above average.

Not sure why the Redskins feel like Smith is the answer ... he's above average by a little because of his experience, but that's about it ...

He'll do well with the tight ends and runningbacks. I wouldn't be surprised with them doing better yards per and totals. He'll also do more than he has in the past, in my opinion, in pre-snap reads and everything that maybe was missing before?

At best, he's better than slightly above average, but he won't be joining a stacked team.
