So... Veach has

Picked up Butker from the PS
Traded a 4th for Ragland
Traded Smith for an excellent slot CB and a 2nd round pick

Niiiiiice
I got so stuck on a 2nd round pick for Smith I didn't consider this deal being a 3rd round pick. Still throwing a mini-parade given they got Fuller; which is worth well in excess of a 2nd round pick anywho.

K.C. traded the No. 27 overall pick, a third-round pick and their 2018 first-round selection to the Buffalo Bills to move up to No. 10 to select Mahomes.
well looks like you got back a 2nd & a slot CB to lessen the hurt of the trade. when you look at it.

holy phuck!

a couple years ago they could have signed Cousins to a lesser contract & still have half the contract to go LOL :laugh3:

71 mil guaranteed? for a stop gap QB waiting for the future QB? I would imagine no matter what now. He has stay at least 3 of those years before being able to cut him (maybe 4)
Love the fact the Redskins are in the NFC East!

Congrats to Alex Smith however. That is an awesome last contract to leave the NFL with!:thumb:

3-5 year stop gap. Smith can mentor someone in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th year. I don't think anyone saw this extension coming. So good for him. To get him some playing stability compared to playing on a lame-duck contract in Cleveland.

Smith was worth a 2nd round pick and change with how the QB market works based on precedent, but holy wow you guys messed up on this one I think. I just hope for your guy's sake 2017 Alex Smith is the real deal. I do want to see him succeed.

Being a Skins fan I am fine with this move, and who the hell knows how much they gave up (certainly not you) Let's wait & see what they gave up before rushing to judgment. All is good - now go carry on w/ your stupid rant about the Redskins name.
LMFAO!!

Your franchise traded away the second best slot corner in the league AND didn't tell him he was being traded when they were doing it.

The fact that the Skins still have fans speaks volumes about the stupidity of some people and you just can't make up stuff like this. I'm sure some people will try to defend this anyway Lol!!!

At his age I have to disagree. Now the whole Cousins contract situation probably forced the trade, but why extend a 34YO QB before he takes one snap for you?

At his performance it doesn't matter. Scarcity is much more important than context like quality. If you're available and have recent performance, someone will overpay for your services. This trade is an excellent example of it. It doesn't matter that it's Alex Smith in his 30's.

You saved a boatload of cash , upgraded at QB and all it cost you was a 3rd rounder. That's a monster win

We saved like 4 mil a year, downgraded at QB, and it cost us a 3rd rounder and the best slot CB in the league - whos 22 years old. Oh and our QB is now 4 years older. That is a catastrophic failure.
