This is why no one watches baseball anymore. 16 frickin innings and no runs on either side, two completely burned bullpens. Get this snooze fest over with. It would have been done in 10 if they didn't fuck with the extra inning rules for the playoffs.

pitching has been great but the hitting has been equally as pathetic.

Literally one in a billion games last 18 innings. We’ve had two 15+ innings this postseason but that shit rarely happens. The rule is fine. They don’t need that rule in the playoffs

Agree. But it's not literally one on a billion. Playoffs should be like this, the rule is because a game like this in the regular season is a disaster.

Brutal series for Seattle with that game especially, feel for them. 2 whole games (18 innings) no runs in front of your fans.

Yeah no need for long games in the regular season, they already play 162. That’s why I support the rule but traditional rules for the postseason feels right

Fans have been pissed off all year about the lack of offensive production in general, but also lack of a skipper that presses for runs. They can't bunt, they don't go in motion much, they all try to swing for the seats in situations where they should shorten up and just put the ball in play, etc.

Sure, sucks to lose after 18 full innings of no runs, but hopefully it wakes up the front office to not putting 2-4 guys out EVERY NIGHT that are hitting sub .210. You can't win championships with rally killers all over your lineup. I don't care how good your pitching and defense are.

Because we have the new rule. That's why it doesn't happen. Pitching is stronger than ever now and hitting is as weak as ever. I think three guys hit .300 in the American league and just a few in the National League as well

This is the positive I take from watching that. There's no way the powers that be sat and watched that for 18 innings and thought this offense is fine. The reality is the Astros are the barometer. They are for all AL teams at this point but especially the Mariners given they share the division. Despite how close all 3 games were, they did finish 16 games behind them so the gap maybe closer then a year ago but there's still a ways to go if you are ultimately going to overtake them. Thats why I figured facing them in a 5 game series was ideal, and they almost were able to do it each game.
