Pretty crazy how the Mariners have suddenly but also systematically turned the A's into their bitch...and they'll single handily be the team responsible for knocking Oakland out of a wild card spot..and could become the 2nd WC team in the AL.

With today's win in the books just a bit ago, the M's are now 12-4 against the A's this season with 3 to go in Seattle next week.

How long has it been since Seattle made it into the postseason?

2001. They missed in 2002 and 2003 despite winning 93 games both seasons, which is some shitty luck

They did win 89 games in 2018, but it was nowhere near enough to get into the Wild Card game (Yanks were the 1st Wild Card at 100 wins, A's were 2nd at 97)

As bad as the Mariners drought is, there's at least some .500+ seasons mixed in and they had some faint hopes of making the playoffs. The Pirates didn't have a single .500+ team in their 21 year playoff drought.

In spite of their problems always stemming from inept owners or bad trades..the M's have actually had some decent teams, but for whatever reason could never get over the hump.
The poor Buccos have just been plain dismal for a very long time.
Sad to see for such a storied franchise.

Bavasi had some awful, awful trades. Shin-Soo Choo/Asdrubal Cabrera, Rafael Soriano, Adam Jones/Chris Tillman, though Lowe/Varitek is probably the worst Mariners trade of all-time.

Kyle Seager, only 33 and coming off his first 100+ RBI year, announces his retirement.

Wouldn't call it one of his best seasons (3rd lowest OPS+ of his career), but there are quite a few teams that could have used his services IMO. I feel like he could have had a few more useful years.

Underrated player, damn good career.

Pray for the Angels and Astros (and fans) tonight, the high pressure system is parked directly over Orange County. Projected high today in Anaheim is 100.

I used to live in AZ, 100 is nothing to me, I've seen much worse. But those poor folks are in for a surprise, they should make the game clothing optional.

It is most likely much more humid in Anaheim than anywhere in Arizona. That humidity will beat you down.
