League average-type production. #4 starter stuff, maybe? We’ve seen worse. Someone had to pitch those innings. Would you have preferred to see more of Luis Cessa or Chase Whitley in those days?

At least Cessa is still in the league.....I think

I told Blade we just gave them their next Edgar Martinez.

Whoops!
Hey, at least you are honest. He really WAS regarded as the next superstar at the time. It reminds me of the hype that Gregg Jefferies received back in the 80’s. Incidentally, Jefferies had a much better career than I remembered.

Funny you mention that-I was reading a piece on the '88 Mets. How loaded they were and two people they mentioned prominently were Jeffries and Kevin McReynolds. Granted, I was more concerned with Rick Rhoden and Rich Dotson in those days but my memory was that those guys were big disappointments. The stats don't agree lol

Lol why? A team 1 gb of a playoffs spot with their best player soon to return after missing nearly months of action should pack it in for the year

This team just doesn’t have the WILL to win it takes to win late in the year if you ask me.

The AL is wide open why the fuck would they do that.

Add something at the deadline and they could even be a front runner.

AL has a lot of good teams but none that are anywhere close to daunting task in a full series. Maybe Houston with Alvarez back. But even so this is their least threatening lineup/rotation combo of their stretch of dominance imo.

i dont know if the yankees should pack it up or not, but they arent going to win anything in the playoffs should they make it, with the way their lineup is currently constructed.
